Movie: I Am Legend
It started off very strong, but fell off and became just like any other zombie/last hope for humanity movie. The massive plot holes didn't help, either. Entertaining for sure, but not consistent.- aphex944

NC meet - Sunday, September 23rd
We had a very small turnout! I had a great time, and I hope everyone else did as well. The clubhouse actually turned out to be a great place for a meet. If another is hosted there, we'll be sure to bring some folding tables as this might make gear placement a bit easier. As for impressions...- aphex944

NC meet - Sunday, September 23rd
The address for the clubhouse is: 10300 Kingsclere Dr Cary, NC 27511 There are two entrances to the apartment complex off of Cary Parkway. Either one will lead you straight to the clubhouse, so just stay on the main road. I am bringing snacks and refreshments. Bring extension...- aphex944

Built a CK²III -- Impressions
See above cotdt, we measured the amp using test equipment. Besides being thermally unstable and oscillating with a capacitive load, all was well. I'd like to clarify my use of the word "gritty." Perhaps it was the wrong adjective to use, but I was trying to convey that it is an edgy, dirty...- aphex944

Built a CK²III -- Impressions
After listening and comparing the amp for several hours last night, I'm not very satisfied. Even with the BJTs, it still has a strained character to it. I used my Chesky "Ultimate Demonstration Disc" reference CD with my DT 880s. On a Sara K track, her voice was edgy, and the background noise...- aphex944

Built a CK²III -- Impressions
UPDATE: We replaced the input transistor JFETs with BC550 and BC560 BJTs. What an astonishing difference!! Upon first listening with this new setup, the dirt was completely gone. It had a slightly strident sound at first, but ended up mellowing out quite nicely. The overall sound is slightly...- aphex944

Built a CK²III -- Impressions
I recently built a CK²III DIY amplifier. I decided on this one for it's relatively cheap part cost, and interesting design. I was also encouraged by the few impressions I've read on various forums, including this one. On the bench, it measured to be very quiet. However, with a capacitive...- aphex944

www.onheadphones.com are WORST reviewing site i've ever saw in my life.
It's rather insulting and offensive for you to bash a headphone enthusiast's website in this community. Last time I checked, we were about encouraging anyone and everyone with an interest in headphones to become involved. It's this kind of bigotry that poisons communities. Seriously, what...- aphex944

Impressions- Ultrasone Edition 9
Agreed with almost all your impressions. I found the soundstaging to be great, but nothing extraordinary. You can tell it's still a closed headphone, anyway. The Edition 9 was the first Ultrasone headphone I listened to, and the tonality was what caught me by surprise. I had a hard time...- aphex944

Anyone like to rip to FLAC w/ cue sheet and reburn?
This guide is pretty close, but I would recommend enabling "No use of null samples for CRC calculations" as well as "Retrieve UPC / ISRC codes in CUE sheet generation." I also have "Overread into Lead-In and Lead-Out" enabled, but I think this might be drive dependent. I also use the native ASPI...- aphex944

He didn't prove anything other than he doesn't have his drive or ripping method setup correctly. Let me prove it's possible. This is from an earlier version of EAC: Quote: "Track 1 Filename C:\ripping\AFX - 2 REMIXES By AFX - 01 - [untitled].wav Pre-gap length 0:00:02.00 Peak...- aphex944

Anyone like to rip to FLAC w/ cue sheet and reburn?
I do this as well. I don't really purchase that many CDs, so when I do, it is a really special one. I open the package, rip it using EAC with a log, create a noncompliant CUE sheet, encode it with FLAC(and tag), create the M3U playlist, and I'm done! The CDs are immediately put in a...- aphex944

Modding ESI Juli@?
The opamps are in a mini SOIC package. Soldering them is pretty tricky. I replaced them with LM833MMs, and also replaced the output caps. The 4580 wasn't doing anything to help the sound, but it also wasn't injecting too much crap surprisingly. I noticed an overall increase in sound quality, but...- aphex944

Pitbulls invade old woman's home, chew her face off
It's not the breed. If any other high drive breed, especially working line German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc. were abused the way pit bulls are, you'd get the exact same result. It's quite common for these working type dogs to develop serious aggression issues, many...- aphex944

Pitbulls invade old woman's home, chew her face off
I've encountered probably around a hundred pit bulls over the past few years. Maybe 25% have been dog aggressive. There are MANY pit bulls that aren't from fighting "stock" or lines that haven't been fought for some time. A friend of mine has a pit bull that is obviously from a fighting line...- aphex944

Pitbulls invade old woman's home, chew her face off
Pit bulls have been bred for their "aggressiveness" towards dogs, not humans. In fact, breeders that fight their dogs usually kill the ones that are aggressive towards humans. This has created an extremely loyal and loving dog, but one that is prone to problems. When selectively bred for...- aphex944
