New supraaural headphones from Thinksound: On1.

Yeah on-ear headphones are not for everyone. Avoid piercings too... These are very portable though since they are relatively small, and they fold up nicely.

New supraaural headphones from Thinksound: On1.

I have had these for a while now and i use them twice a daw during my 1h+1h commute. So, a long time. Been through the plastic clip replacement (early models, excellent customer support from Thinksound), and now through earpad replacement (got it in 2 days from the US to Europe !). Before these...

list your setting you use with your Auzentech prelude for headphones.

I use my Prelude both for gaming and for listening to music. For the music listening part and gaming late at night: All fancy effects off, Auzen ASIO drivers are used for sound output (for music listening). Optical output goes to a DAC then to my tube amp and headphones. For gaming or when...

Measure from the source to the output?

IMD is the most important factor, once the pure frequency response has been established. The dynamics is what makes the difference between "good" cans (those with adequate frequency response). Transducers with a good dynamic response will produce clearly separated, well defined instruments, it's...

    Wearing cans with long hair

I have quite long hair. I cannot stand hair in between my cans (them being portable or full size) and my ears. I always brush my hair back before putting each can on. Otherwise there's an annoying tickling sensation, and of course the SQ falls as there is no proper seal.

    4 portable headphones, quick review

I think the poor fit didnt help to convey the bass at all... But clamping them on my ears, what i heard was boomy low-mediums (which indeed put a veil on everything), not REAL bass such as the kind produced by my W1000. Typically low-pitch bass drum kicks... The double bass on some metal songs...

Need Portable Cans "Grado Style" for METAL

I dont think there are any "closed" AND "portable" cans ? Closed means supra aural usually, that defeats any concept of portability... Or did i miss something ?

    Audio Technica ATH-EM7gm

The EM9's have L shaped plugs, as EM7 are their ancestor i could suppose they have it too (would be logical, for portable use)

Post your Sony A6XX/A8XX EQ settings here (and why I returned my Zune 80)

Indeed the 'unique' preset doesnt sound too bad... I use all flat and CB+1 while on the train (to cover the train engine noise, which is mostly bass) and on the street. If i am in a silent environment, it's set to all flat.

    W1000 Help

Once you get used to the tight bass, you will notice the W1000's excellent impact, and the very enjoyable mediums. Pair them with a warm source (tube amp for example) and they will make you smile. They are without pity for poor sources or amps though.

Need Portable Cans "Grado Style" for METAL

For $130 you can try the ATH EM9d: read my review in the thread i just made in this forum. I am a metal head too, and i can tell i love their sound ! And you cannot beat that portability (small clip-ons).

    4 portable headphones, quick review

Backstory: Recently i had to adapt my lifestyle to long train commutes, of course it involved getting a mp3 player. I am spoiled at home with my Darkvoice 332i powering a very nice ATH W1000, so i couldnt just get any random portable crap. My journey started by getting a Sony S615 walkman for...

W1000 vs. D5000 for jazz and classical?

I can vouch for the Audio Technica woodies, first they have first class appearance, then they have a very smile-inducing sound signature. The bass response is definitely NOT bloated, this will surprise (and disappoint) many bass heads (who will dismiss the AT woodies as "sounding thin"), but...

Playing CDs on computer, does CD/DVD Drive matter?

I think there are tests and reviews floating around on the Net... The PX-716SA and PX-755SA are really good, plus they use SATA (small cables, good for in case temps / noise). What i also like on Plextor models is the Plextools suite (get the LE variant, it's free). You can tweak your drive and...
