AKG K361 too shrill for me, where to go next?
I need some closed back wired phones for laptop/PC use so my wife and I don't annoy each other when watching/listening to different things in the same room (don't have the luxury of a Man Cave!). I have mild tinnitus at times with a sensitivity to higher splashy frequencies and found the K361s...- bernado

Returning Head-fier confused by 'new' classifieds layout. Help appreciated
Hi there. I've not been around here for a while; I had to leave as I was spending too much money. I'm now looking to raise some funds so back I come, but having real trouble with posting in the Classifieds section. I get as far as entering ad details and uploading images, but when it comes to...- bernado

Is the built-in HD Audio chip enough?
The DS is an amazing bargain. It is supposedly stripped of some Dolby specs, but if 2 channel stereo is your thing you really can't go wrong. The fact it's internal spdif header passes audio to my video card for synchronised HDMI audio/video output, is the icing on the cake for me. Cost me...- bernado

Looking for entry level musical sound card??
My upgrade op amp is on it's way. I'll report back my findings when it arrives. For very little money, this card with a relatively cheap upgraded chip (via sample deal), has potential to be quite popular within a certain market (me included)- bernado

Looking for entry level musical sound card??
I can't tell you how it compares sonically to the other Asus cards, but fed into my LDMKIII amp and HD650s, it sounds pretty nice, I'm expecting some nice improvements when I swap out the stock op amp. This extensive review does provide some useful info and interesting comparisons - Elite...- bernado

Looking for entry level musical sound card??
You might want to have a look at the Xonar DS. Rockbottom price and if you're main priority is 2 channel stereo, it's a winner. It shares the same AV2000 processor as other Asus cards and has an upgradeable opamp. I've just ordered a replacement chip (on a sample basis) for a few dollars to...- bernado

Meier Audio StageDAC
As there are a lot of comments in this thread regarding the possitive effects of the Meier crossfeed circuit, users may wish to tryout a software emulator plugin for Foobar 2000 - Bauer Stereophonic-to-Binaural DSP. It has a J. Meier preset, supposedly configured to emulate the Meier crossfeed...- bernado

What's wrong with the iPod Touch?
I think what can be agreed on, is what sounds good to one may not to another. It's all a matter of opinion, that's all. I've seen far too many threads like this descend into a mine's better than yours rant, ending up in flaming between those defending their favourite's. You look at the specs...- bernado

Is the Cowon S9 for me?
It's all a matter of taste I suppose, but the P3 left me decidely unimpressed. The S9 however, is excellent; providing you stick a custom ui on it. The stock interface is truly horrible- bernado

Is the Cowon S9 for me?
Yes S9 all the way. P3 sounded decidedly average to me, as is the battery life. S9 sounds superb with gapless mp3 playback, battery fantastic but the stock UI is as ugly as sin. X2 on Acrea's nod to dnw's Aero Ultimate UI. Makes the thing a joy to use plus the young guy sticks out more updates...- bernado

Asus Xonar DS - anyone used it?
The recently released Xonar DS looks quite good from specs and reviews (ASUS Xonar DS PCI sound card review - Specification&heading=ASUS Xonar DS sound card review), it is also very affordable at £35. I'm particularly interested in this card as it has an internal spdif header I can connect...- bernado

S639F too muddy sounding - looking for much more detail and a flatter response
As I said before, the S9 is for you. Try it you'll like it, add dnw's latest Aero Ultimate interface (as featured on iaudiophile and ABI), you'll love it. Other than a little EQ tweak, I leave well alone all the gimmicky sound 'enhancement' stuff. And believe me, I REALLY didn't like the D2- bernado

Whats Easier To Drive? HD 580 or HD 595
To be honest, I wouldn't look to cnet for definitive technical information. HD595s are by far easier to drive. Whatever paper specs cnet quote don't stand up in practical application.- bernado
