Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Quote:   That's maybe your power supply: the more people using the grid, the dirtier the domestic power. Late night is definitely better here on whatever equipment.

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Post ex-2045 [I see it's disappeared & there's a new one] above is clearly spam & has been duly reported. The French is a random extract from an online contract & the links speak for themselves.   Tiresome.

The Little Dot Mk IV / SE Impressions Thread

70 is very high. Try a higher gain setting, unless you're already maxed out. That should reduce the need for volume - and thr problem. Mine (on about 50, gain setting 5) is dead silent into 600ohm Beyers.

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

On the Telefunken EK90s. At first, mine were not so much treble-forward as bass-light and overall a bit thin-sounding, if refined and musical (EF95). But after 40-50 hrs they became a dramatically different tube, excellent bass in quantity and quality and well-balanced through the FR. Here's the...

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Quote:   I have Sylvania JAN 6AU6WB/WC and a pair of Mazdas on the way from NOS TubeStore. Those prices are silly: I paid $8 ea. for the Mazdas, $4 for the Sylvanias.   Not even sure if I should have ordered them now that my TLF EK90s have burnt in (yes, 40-50 hours). Another heptode...

Running my 11.32 on toslink at present with no problems. I'd be looking at other causes.

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

These guys appear to be scrap merchants, which I think means anything and everything, mostly metal. They're way out of whack with the tube market (esp postage) so it's possible that they simply don't know what they're doing.

More money = less fun. I keep telling myself that . . .   Anyway, the only things drawn to the abyss are lemmings.

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

I'm following in the wake here guys, and very grateful to everyone who's done all this awesome work.   Graduated from the regular pentodes to Tung-Sol 6AH6WA and thought the performance of the amp went up a whole class or two. Then came the first heptode, Telefunken EK90, and it got even...

The Little Dot Mk IV / SE Impressions Thread

Anyone help with a tube question? I have a MKIV SE which came with some tubes marked as follows:   000-4010   CV-4010   KQDD/K   81/27   I understand that these are Mullard tubes, and I want to sell them as such - but they don't carry the Mullard stamp. Is that a problem?

I'm running Windows 7, foobar2000 using WASAPI event mode into the 11.32 - no problem. Try that before you give up foobar.

CD player - upgrade or trade?

Thanks, SS. I'm finding that argument difficult to resist - bit of clinging to the past going on here. Always hard to accept that what you shelled out $$$ for could be obsolete, but it clearly is as you say. I have a computer-based desktop system for cans, so the technology is familiar. My wife...

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

I do now - should have listened to you in the first place. Many, many thanks for all your work on these headphones: even with my amateurish first efforts, the improvement over stock is simply startling. Planning to buy a second pair so I can really go to town.

CD player - upgrade or trade?

I have a Musical Fidelity A3 CD player (from 2002 I believe), classy player in its day, and it still works, though well overdue for an overhaul. Now at a crossroads: upgrade the player, or just use it as a transport.   It has a PCM1716 DAC chip and a KSS-240A transport mechanism. Apparently...

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

Thanks to bmp and others, when I had a channel imbalance I started by checking the seal on the earpads. That was it, problem solved.   A confession, getting the Shure pads on was unarmed combat, so I fudged it with electrical tape. Don't do this!

THE BEST HEADPHONES for sound quality for $700 or less

What jerg (above) means by Mad Dogs is a pair of Fostex T50RP modified professionally by Mr Speakers. Right now I'm listening to a pair I modded myself, which I'm sure would not be as good as his and let me tell you they are magic. If youo don't want to try out something unusual like that, stick...

    ODAC , or Audio-GD NFB-11.32 (as DAC) , Anybody?

I have tried them both as DACs feeding my Little Dot MKIV SE & the Audio-GD seemed to me clearly superior. I would guess that the output stage of the O-DAC is under-powered.   The amp in the Audio-GD is much more than an after-thought: it drives my AKG701s very well.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Dr. says "No more Headphones".... : (

Not to single anyone out, but guys, consider this (from this thread):     Quote:   What kind of insanity is this? I watch kids in the mosh-pit and think, if this were a workplace, what's happening would be illegal. Isn't it time to think about why bands got so loud and what we can...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Certainly should not be happening. But before you go further, try cleaning the headphone socket. Use rubbing alcohol + a cotton-wool bud. Prepare the bud by gently pulling the cotton as if you were pulling it off the end of the stick. When no more fibres come off easily, it's ready to use. This...

    Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!

Don't want to be a snark, but I'm not persuaded that the 11.32 can drive the 600 ohm Beyers. Sure you have sound, but it's nowhere near as good as the sound through my Little Dot MKIV SE fed from the DAC. The conventional wisdom is right here: tubes deliver the needed voltage. Maybe a hybrid -...
