Best portable audio for digital out signal.
Hi, I am looking for an audio player to pair with my Shure KSE 1500. As it has a DAC, I am looking for a player with a digital out. What I want is to source the digital signal from Tidal and feed it into the KSE. An expensive DAP is not needed since I am not going to use the DACs of the DAP. I...- angeche

On line outs
Hi there! I am the happy owner of a Sony NW-ZX-2 and an Onkyo DP-X1 player, and since yesterday the happy owner of a Shure KSE 1500. I have tried both in the line out mode, the Onkyo a disaster since the line out is set at max volume, thus clipping occurring. The Sony, just the opposite: far...- angeche

The Stax Thread III
I have just received my new Shure 1500 KSE. They sound great, better than the Stax SRS-002 I also own (the baby Stax) and it is far more comfortable (the maximum I can stand the baby Stax is an hour!). Not sure they sound 2000 dollars better but that is, as we all know, another issue. I...- angeche

Amplifiers shootout for Stax 009 (Eddie Current Electra, AudioValve RKV + WooAudio Wee, Stax SRM727 / SRM007t2)
Hi there. I have a Stax sr009 and a SRM007 and SRM727. I bought SH the SRM007 with the intention to see whether I could feel the difference between solid state and valve. And I cannot! I listen mostly to HD classic music, Linn in particular, through my Imac and using Sony PHA3 as a DAC (I use...- angeche

SONY NW-ZX2
Thanks for the interview. After reading it, I wonder if a) the low volume line out is a result of EU regulations and b) if the issue can be resolved via tampering with the software.......- angeche

SONY NW-ZX2
Well, I have heard it with the NuForce Primo 8 and the sound level is enough. But for Stax, either Sr009+727II or Baby Stax, better to have the FIIO X5. The UI is perfect but the low volume line out is ridiculous for a +1000 euros price tag......- angeche

SONY NW-ZX2
Just listening to it. The UI is excellent, better than Fiio X5 (of course, price is 3x!). But the line out volume is very, very low. I am listening to it with the Stax 009 and 727II at max volume and not yet enough! I try to get it through the PHA3 with the USB cable to use the PHA3 line...- angeche

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Today it is flashing again (the other day I was playing for hours without the flash). I am connecting the PHA3 with the computer via two USB, one for sound input and the other for DC in. I am using the audio line out in the back to connect to a STAX SRM 727II amplifier. And I am using the Sony...- angeche

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
But I am using it as a DAC, that means that I am not using the volume key at all, only the line out that goes without volume....- angeche

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Hi there, I am now playing the PHA 3AC as a DAC from my Imac to my Stax SR009. The green light is flashing all the time, playing the whole evening like that and no problem. The green light is continuos just when starting to use it but very fast goes to flashing. I am using the USB to power it...- angeche

The Stax Thread III
Hi all! Well, I had an old Stax Sr-5 that I have started using again after discovering the possibilities of portable DAPs. I am currently listening to the Fiio X5. While waiting for the Stax 507, I succumbed to temptation and bought a SR-009. I am currently listening to them. I am a bit...- angeche

The Fiio X5 Thread
Well, I almost feel guilty of having iniciated such a fire with my rather innocent comment.... My friend, he is brilliant, a science mind, and his statement is based on factual science (as many people have argued). Me, not a scientist, but someone who has been raised with audio gear around. My...- angeche

The Fiio X5 Thread
I have a friend who is very skeptical on our capabilities of distinguishing high quality compressed audio and uncompressed audio. Frankly speaking, I can hear the difference. I can even hear the difference between the ipod and the Fiio X3. Of course, in order to notice it you need a good audio...- angeche

X5 constant freeze via line out
I always use the line out in the X3 and the x5 (just for a few hours, I admit) to connect them to my Stax system (either baby stax or SRM T1S plus SR 5). Never had problems...... -

Gapless not working in my Fiio x5, I am playing HD tracks. The gap is very short, but enough to spoil listening to classic music ( like the orchestra stopping suddenly in the middle of a piece and then continuing in a fraction of a second....).- angeche

Fiio x5 gapless reproductions doubts
Hi, after purchasing the x3 a few weeks ago I am now the proud owner of the fiio x5. Really nice..... But I have a doubt. I have set the gapless reproduction but it seems not to work, at least on HD tracks. There is a gap that albeit brief, spoils the lsitening experience in classic music... -
Reply to some bugs of X3’s new firmware and new function suggestions from our end-users!
And now, it stops playing gapless at the end of the 4th song…..and freezes, and I need to reboot…….
