2017 UK Head-Fi Group - Music Thread
Note-by-note Piano I'm sure many of you are fans of Ludovico Einaudi. He's not on Bandcamp, Genres for Piano Solo, Post-Classical and Neo-Classical are. Browsing these I eventually run into both 1631 records and heklAa. heklAa's full discography of 7 albums cost €8.80 which is a bargain 1631... -
2017 UK Head-Fi meet (02/Apr/2017 - Milton Keynes) - Impressions Thread
I discussed an on-going thread for the group to post musical finds with pedalhead at the show, but I've only just found some free time to create it. Sadly, as yet, no prizes https://www.head-fi.org/threads/2017-uk-head-fi-group-music-thread.861187/ Hope to see some interesting posts Neville- NevilleM

2017 UK Head-Fi Group - Music Thread
Daily I find myself wandering the genres/followers/feeds on Bandcamp. My wishlist grows and shrinks, by purchase or just nor being interesting enough to ever buy. I'm sure that 5 of my all-time top 10 are there, I just need to find them. I'm mostly a metal-head though metal has become a very... -
2017 UK Head-Fi Group - Music Thread
Prior to the UK Group's Milton Keynes Meet in April 2017 there was a UK Head-Fiers Group competition * - suggest tracks you've enjoyed - with a prize going to the members choice. There is no prize this time, but the idea of the UK Group having a thread to note down their recent finds is worth... -
2017 UK Head-Fi meet (02/Apr/2017 - Milton Keynes) - Impressions Thread
It was a very enjoyable day with a chance to meet so many enthusiats. Always better than any CanJam imho. And thanks to all those who said nice words about my SJS Aoide. Having my equipment at the show meant I got to hear a number of headphones through my set-up. I admit I do like 50+ genres of...- NevilleM

2017 UK Head-Fi Meet (April 2nd @ Milton Keynes)
The problem with the competition was I couldn't decide a top one/three or ten to recommend in time. And once I started confirming 2016/7 releases on Bandcamp I kept getting distracted. I did finish up with another 17 albums today :) My musical tastes dont suit everyone but after stripping...- NevilleM

2017 UK Head-Fi Meet (April 2nd @ Milton Keynes)
I'm planning* to bring along my Simon Shilton Aoide Headphone Amplifier. Custom wound 30/120 ohm transformers, DHT E55L NOS valves. Toxic silver cable wiring... So far it's the only one, though Simon has a second in build. *Planning as my CD developed a left channel issue, and then my...- NevilleM

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers
After you went inthere, Mark and I experimented with one of the aftermarket cables available at the show. The Atlas Zeno sounded great though we both had to give our ears ten minutes to adjust. Checking their website it appear to be so new they've not set up the weblinks yet (I think they...- NevilleM

Hifiman HM901S New Flagship DAP
Nice case Donkeaneu. Is it available or home made? I'd want screen protection - my glass sub screen broke when it slid off my knee, whilst putting an SD card in, and hit the charger. Hifiman did a good job of fixing it (though there's no UK distributor so it has to travel the world). Now...- NevilleM

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers
During the break-in period (up to 100 hours) you can listen to all those secret pleasures you'd never admit to - Britney Spears, Justin Beever etc. After all you're not really listening - it's just breaking in the drivers. Then go genre wild - The Ring Cycle, Trypykon, Kraftwerk, Aesop Rock...- NevilleM

Official HIFIMAN HE1000 Impressions Thread
High End Pricing Many many years ago I talked to A. J. van den Hul and he explained the pricing of his latest super cable like this. Target sales before profit: 1000m Cost of machines to do all that insulation, braiding etc: $375,000 Cost of material - he didnt say - lets go with $25/meter...- NevilleM

Hifiman HM901S New Flagship DAP
fengwei: Maybe becuase I structure Genre/Artist/Album so more directories for it to traverse? I have about 350 directories and 3000 files on a 64Gb.- NevilleM

Hifiman HM901S New Flagship DAP
My 64gb cards take at least 3 minutes. My 128Gb card I can safely make a cup of tea, brew for 4 minutes, and get back before it finishes. I use a genre-artist-album directory structure so that may be why it takes so long?- NevilleM

Please choose an amp to compliment the Audeze LCD-2's
if you enjoy rock/metal then the Schitt Mjolnir and LCD 2 have a wonderful synergy. I cant say if the very new Mjolnir 2 has the same synergy.- NevilleM

Official HIFIMAN HE1000 Impressions Thread
The Headamp stand pair had such a loose fit I assumed they were an early well worn beta - they were nowhere near as good as my LCD2 on the same amp. The HiFiMan stand pairs were in comparison a complately different headphone in sound and fit. I couldn't find any music I liked on the HiFiMan...- NevilleM

:flag_gb: CanJam London 2015 Is Official! August 29-30, 2015!
For those travelling into London down the West Coast line and arriving at Euston for Cam Jam - who are infrequent travellers. Dont use the tube - unless it's torrential rain. Russell Hotel is only a 10 minute walk away. Euston to Russell Square by tube takes longer and probably involves...- NevilleM

:flag_gb: CanJam London 2015 Is Official! August 29-30, 2015!
For those travelling the West Coast Mainline there are, as always, Bank Holiday disruptions - but they dont appear as bad as some years/Spring. Reduced service Saturday and Sunday between Rugby and Euston. If you're travelling from further north here's the only link I've found so far...- NevilleM

Cambridge meet impressions, 25 April 2015
Thanks to the sponsors, organisers, volunteers and the 90+ people who made it an enjoyable day. I heard plenty of new products and combinations some of which I enjoyed, some which left me unmoved and some which I'd need to hear in a quiet room to appreciate further. I particularly enjoyed the...- NevilleM

One feature of Bank Holidays is they dig up the West Coast train lines. It's probably quicker to fly from the US than travel on a bus replacement service.- NevilleM

London Calling...19th October, 2013.
I've lashed together what I can with 6 bungee cords, 10 metres of gaffer tape and a wheelie cart. Sadly the Opera CD player proved both too heavy and too bulky for the cart so I'll be using just an uber bifrost/vortexbox front end. I'll got both the mjolnir/toxic/lcd2s and a sicphones/denon...- NevilleM

London Calling...19th October, 2013.
As a minimum bring yourself, favourite CD/files and a headphone you know. There were people with spare items at the spring show so it's up to you if you bring anything - we're friendly so you might be able to try your amp on someone's DAC. To everyone bringing a set-up remember an extension...- NevilleM
