:sunrise: Official 2015 SF Head-Fi Meet, July 18, 2015, Doubletree San Francisco Airport
I bought tickets a while ago, but have not listed my gear lol. Sennheiser HD600 Etymotic ER6I Etymotic hf5 Behringer UCA202 DAC/Amp BSG 18V cmoy amp Vmoda crossfade M80 vocal It is all pretty compact, and mostly for trying out different rigs with the hf5 and HD600 as my reference phones. Cheapest Amp to Drive HD600
So many expensive options, I use a $50 cmoy amp that works fine with em. For 200 you can get one of many types of amp/DAC combos. Hell even something cheap like a Behringer UCA202 will do fine with them as well.- Electro-Static

Stereo balance issue with brand new Fidelio X2s
I have had the same problem, think mine are beyong their return period though. I have found kind of a weird fix though, take off the pads and see if they are aligned right. Also moving the headphone around on the ears can affect your perception of left and right balance.- Electro-Static

Philips Fidelio X2?!
I own the X2 and the HD600, I would recommend against the X2 for mixing purposes because it isn't really a neutral headphone, plus the slightly recessed midrange masks a some midrange details that you would hear on something like the HD600.- Electro-Static

Sennheisers HD 518 not exciting. Do I need an amp? Need advice.
Headphonia did a piece on a few different superlux offerings in case you are interested, which do cover a wide variety of different sounds. With a budget like $250 it might be better to buy two $100 headphones rather than one $250 pair so that you can figure out what you like. You might want to...- Electro-Static

Upgrading from Sennheiser HD 360 Pro to Sennheiser HD 518
I bought the HD518 for $50USD would reccomend the FA003 clones from jaycar over it any day of the week. It does have it's appeal when you get used to it's signature though. Gonna buy the superlux 668B later and compare.- Electro-Static

Used the Sennheiser HD518 - recommend me a different headphone
Jaycar's FA-003 clones can be had for $70USD shipped from australia, while their sound stage isn't huge they are definitely much clearer and cleaner than the HD518. They are a more neural headphone, and definitely would be a good contrast to your HD518, as they have tight focused bass, clear...- Electro-Static

Unleash the full potential of your Brainwavz HM5 or FA-003 with mods
Has anyone tried using an Etymotic ER4p to ER4s resistor adapter with the HM5/Fa-003? I've tried it with my jaycar clones, that I can tell the frequency response is a bit more flat and the sound sounds colder, I prefer the sound without it. I was wondering if anyone with a better set up and more...- Electro-Static

What made you join Head-Fi.org?
My ER-6i IEMs(that a friend gave me) died and after a few failed reccomendations I went to amazon, where another IEM review directed me here. My wallet has really never fully recovered.- Electro-Static

I think that snowdrop did a better job of feeling like an actual episode than double rainboom did. Double rainboom was fun, but it felt much more like a fan work not just in animation department but in the story department as well.- Electro-Static

JDS Labs CMOY AMP vs BIOSCIENCEGEEK
I am of little experience but just bought the BSG amp, so I'm hoping that my imput be useful. The guy who makes em allows you to customize your order for no extra charge (select battery options(9V vs 18V), choose an OP amp, select tin type, LED color ect...). with the the extra $20 (vs buying...- Electro-Static

His work changes quite a bit for the better when you listen to it with a more detailed set of cans, anyone else notice that? If you look at older versions of his OC you can see that it's cans are even more like the HD580-6XX series. I wonder what variety of CMOY amp and opamp though. I just...- Electro-Static

Cool! Aren't the DT880's kind of a detailed, unforgiving set of cans? I can imagine that that would be pretty useful for mastering, I wonder what he is using as a source. Is it me or does the living tombstone's OC look like it is wearing a pair of HD600s? Same shape, same general blue...- Electro-Static

Cooking thread? hell yes! How many of you all stir fry? I've getting into it because it is a fast method of preparing relatively balanced meals. Tomorrow night is double umami yakisoba. Mid-fi dilemma; To amp or not to amp?

Mid-fi dilemma; To amp or not to amp?
An interesting note is that the problem with the detail as related to volume does not seem to present itself when using my Sansa Clip, only on my iPod touch. A while back I realized that different sources sounded different with the same song even with my low fi stuff. Which is why I am curious...- Electro-Static
