    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

IMO the cable is just a POS. I've done this but the cable always finds a way to stay permanently contorted and warped.

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

For me, these first 2 can be harder to listen to, due to the treble. Usually I have to turn the volume down a bit: With this one, I definitely need to turn the volume down due to the treble. I am not a big fan of how it sounds on the X00. Maybe the HD6XX was better, but nothing notable there...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Oh wow, for $35 it makes no sense to not do the mod since it seems to offer a noticeable improvement. Yeah, times definitely have changed. $350 down to low $100s for what is more or less the same headphone is crazy lol If I can find some CAL! SEs for a low price like you did for your...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Those are two I've been thinking about, but I'm not sure if I'd like them enough to justify the price. I'm sure that after a few hundred dollars, the value curve goes down probably exponentially. I think I'd be okay with spending as much as $800 on another pair, but they'd have to be...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

I have the X00 PH (got them during their first drop) and just recently bought the HD6XX this Black Friday. I am a bigger fan of the X00, though I do like the HD6XX in certain areas--both of them are great cans for sure--but, I find myself looking for something better. For those that currently...

Feliks Audio Echo (new budget OTL amp)

Anybody know how this compares with the original Espressivo?

    Yamaha hph mt220 thread (Merged)

So I tried the Brainwavz HM5 Velour Standard pads and installed them on the MT220 and I must say, it was terrible. I ensured a proper installation, unless there is a particular "direction" it needs to be installed in?   It ruins the characteristics of the MT220 IMO.    Thoughts on this? I...

I'm surprised you said that the MT220s blow away the 650s. In what regards?

    Yamaha hph mt220 thread (Merged)

After some more listening, I think I like the TH-X00 with proper EQ better than the MT220. The MT220 has certain qualities to it that absolutely warrant keeping it, though.

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Hmm so it seems like you think the MT220s are about on par with the X00s, at least in terms of value. I somewhat agree. I think the X00s are better in resolution, bass decay, bass impact, and soundstage, and they seem more natural sounding (less metallic).    I wish the X00s were a little...

How would you compare the Yamaha 220s to X00s and 900s?

PHs sounding better than HD650s? In what sense? I didn't think they would.    Serial numbers are also just stickers. Once I found that out I didn't care.

    Yamaha hph mt220 thread (Merged)

Okay I think the X00s are technically better, but the coloration the MT220 provides could make for a more enjoyable listening experience. The X00s are maybe 20-30% technically better tops, mainly in terms of airiness, weightiness, and resolution. They also are ever so slightly less sibilant.  ...

So I got the Fostex TH-X00 PHs in and they sound great. The MT220s are so good though, that it holds its own against the Fostex. The main distinctions between the MT220s and the X00 PHs is that the MT220s are more intimate and boast a smaller soundstage, and the PHs have more rumble and boast a...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Got mine today. Pretty good, but coming from the fantastic Yamaha MT220s I'm not yet giving the Fostex praise. Hopefully some burn-in and perhaps some EQ can turn these into a real winner. Good soundstage though thanks to the music separation and headphone design, as even with a midrange boost I...

I experienced this same thing. I noticed that moving the fit towards the rear-end offered a larger soundstage.

New Loaner Program - Moon Neo 230 Headphone amp and DAC

I began my audio journey with some JVC FXT90s. They were great. I never realized how involving and spectacular music could sound. Unfortunately they went south and I eventually purchased a pair of Sony XBX90EX. These lacked the finesse of the JVCs but they provided a bass that I didn't think I'd...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Well from what I've observed most guitars have a lot of body around 150-500hz, and the drop is barely at 500hz. So it may not be too bad, just a slight distance in harmonics    Now that I think about it, the Purplehearts probably won't be "better" or more appropriate for rock/metal than the...

What Amp/ DAC you will take with Fostex TH-X00?

Gonna use a Feliks Audio Espressivo.

Well they likely won't sell them all, so I'm not sure what that means for their business. But it is likely that within the next few months they will have another Purpleheart drop.
