Did anyone move from a Fiio E7 to this? I've had the E7 for a few years now and been playing around with the E10k for about a week but, to my ears, they sound almost identical through my HD 598s as well as my M100s. Perhaps it's because my headphones are not particularly hard to drive? Or maybe...

I would give up a Klondike bar for one of these!

Wow, this post is old! Seems like just yesterday when I made it.   I've owned a bunch of headphones/IEMs since then, currently settled on a M100...for now 

Thanks! I got it done yesterday by splicing the cable together.    It took a while because the speaker and the extended cable weren't color coded the same. The red from the speaker went with the white from the cable and vice versa.

I have a set of speakers that have been cutting in and our randomly. I've figured out there's a break somewhere right above the 3.5mm connector (cable is ATTACHED to the speakers). Kind of like this:   http://www.laptopandcomputersolutions.com/sites/default/files/980-000309-PB-R-unit.jpg  ...

So these are actually bassier than the LP2? I thought it was the other way around considering the LP2 are regarded as bass cannons.

No one received a shipping confirmation yesterday right? Val said a bunch went out yesterday so maybe our status didn't update yet.   Once I get mine in I can compare them with the ever-so-popular M50/M80 :)

Leave it to Head-Fi to completely ignore the OP. Which part of "Please don't go suggesting any other audiophile phones" did you guys not understand?   To OP, do you want an on-ear set or an over-ear set that requires batteries? If sound wasn't a main concern nor price, I'd just choose based...

As far as I know, the 598 has a much wider soundstage than the old Sennheiser's so definitely worth it if position is important.   If price is a concern, the best compromise would probably be the 558.
