LA7000 vs LCD-2 - Can they even be compared?
Hi guys. As the topic says, I'm wondering about what to get headphone-wise between the LA7000 and LCD-2.Couldn't really find any other thread here on the subject, and I guess that makes sense because people wouldnt really put these two up against each other anyways, but seeing as I own a...- Vargtass

DacMagic + SACD = Silence. Err, what?
I found my Miles Davis - Kind of blue sacd today, got pretty excited and popped it into my denon dvd/sacd-player. Its digitally connected to my Cambridge DacMagic, and analogue from there to my Head-Direct EF1 and my Denon 7000s. What struck me tho, was that I wasn`t able to play it in...- Vargtass

RS1 left channel buzzing, worth sending to Grado?
Hi there. I have a pair of what I think is semi-vintage Grado RS1s that I just recently started using again paired up with a dacmagic and EF-1 amp I just purchased. Yesterday night I again noticed a very suspect buzzing-noise connected to low frequency noises. I`ve noticed this now and then...- Vargtass

Darkvoice 336 vs Little Dot MK III with Grado RS1
Wonder if any of you could help me with what seems like a hard choice. Been away from the whole headphones-scene for a while due to not having ANY money. Just came back now, and the first ting I noticed was that my amp was dead and my Grado RS1s were in dire need of new pads. So going to...- Vargtass

Etymotic er6 or er6i for recording?
I need something that doesn't leak sound when overdubbing. I already have the etymotic musicians' ear plugs, and the er-6 fit these, so i thought i might be a good idea opposed to using my Grados. However, i've never tried any of them, and was wondering which have the most neutral sound...- Vargtass

Does 325i work well with RA1?
I think the presentation (in terms of closeness) of 325i is perfect as it is unamped. Singer-songwriters are positioned (of course depending on the recording) about 1,5 - 2m away. Sr80 brings the sound even closer, which is superb for solo piano as it, if closely miked, makes you feel you sit...- Vargtass

Will Beyer 880 drivers fit 770?
I won an auction for a pair of blown 770's today. (9 euro) I figured i could order a pair of 880 drivers, if they will give the phones a sound closer to 880. Do they fit in 770? Have a nice evening.- Vargtass

Can a headphone amp replace a mic preamp for guitar recording?
I have an ok mic pre that i use for this purpose. I don't think much gain is needed. Could a headphone amp with more high-end components serve the task better. Have a nice evening.- Vargtass

Distinct popping-sound when turning on / off
Just got myself a dreaded ra1 clone for my rs1`s since I cant find batteries with power enough to run what I suspect is an even better amp, the blueberry g6 / emotions. Anyways, sound with the little clone is great, but when I turn it on, it comes a pretty highvolume popping-noise from my...- Vargtass

I was thinking of getting the M-audio 410 for home studio use, but i hear the mic preamps aren't exactly top notch. Therefore i was wondering if it would be possible to replace the op-amps, caps, xlr-connections etc. to achieve quality sound. Also, if someone is interested in doing such...- Vargtass

~250$ amp for akg 340.
I'm looking for an amp for my friend's 340's, preferably a portable. The 340's are rated 2x400 ohms and slightly dark sounding. I was guessing perhaps a supermacro or a used emmeline sr71. Any suggestions? Vargtass- Vargtass

Akg 340 mod
Hello. A friend of mine will be getting a pair of 340's in the mail this week. I hear the cable is really poor. Larry at headphile.com offers new cable and driver tweak for 150$ + shipping, which means ca. 250$ including tax in this case. If he had the money, the phones would be on their...- Vargtass

How to open grados
I`ve searched and searched again without finding the proper post for this, so here I am posting it myself. Currently got a pair of somewhat dead grado sr80s which I need to change the whole cable in. Portable amps for ety 4s and grado sr80
I've been thinking about building 2 small amps for Ety 4s and Grado sr80. I have no experience with electronics, but an experienced friend of mine is happy to help me out. 150 - 200$ total for both amps would be preferable. Is it worth doing this quality considered? Or are there other amps...- Vargtass

Gilmore Lite vs V2
Hia all. I`m trying to narrow down my search for new headphones. I seem determined to go for the alessandro ms2, which seems to suit my musictaste just fine. I want to play loud music, aprox 50% electronic and the the rest will be jazz, rockish etc. So, to my question. How much will I...- Vargtass

Rather strange comparison
Hello and hi ... I currently own a pair of horrible Sony MDR-V700. Yeah, they are awful. So, I`ve been listening quite alot to the Stax System 3030, and they really blow my mind. Only problem is that they`re really expensive, and my cdplayer is utterly crap. So I`m wondering about the...- Vargtass

Stax 001 - Improved comfort?
Hello. I find the stax 001's have a very detailed and smoth sound, though a little passive and lacking a bit in the upper register. At least for 239$ including amp they're impressive. But, i'm wondering is there a way to improve the comfort? I find the plastic tip fit quite akward. Do you...- Vargtass
