Ahh! I was probably wrong. Just read the manual. You will get downmixed 2 channel analog sound output. But you won't get 5.1 output from this player unless you use an external receiver. Did I get it right this time?- tracky

DVD 25 sounds pretty good while playing CDs but Philips DVD963SA sounds better. There is a big problem however: DVD 25 lacks DD and DTS decoders! That means you will get no sound while playing DVDs.- tracky
