Audioengine D3 and DAC3 comparison?
I would like to hear from anyone who's heard both of these mini DACs. I love the D3 but issues are slowly developing and I need a widely available replacement as the D3 has been EOL for a long time. The D3 has an AK4396 and the DAC3 has an ESS ES9281A Pro. There are different DACs from...- TrantaLocked

Does output power matter when driving a car auxiliary input?
I am using a USB DAC with the auxilliary 3.5mm input in my car. I assume this is line level which means high input impedance and a dedicated amplifier (but maybe not?). If I can get a high enough output voltage from the DAC to have enough volume with my car volume at less than 50%, will the DAC...- TrantaLocked

What's a good 8+ band equalizer with SPDIF input and output?
I have a good set of bookshelf speakers but unfortunately even with its 2-band EQ, I can't get quite the EQ I want. The bass knob lowers upper bass too much while I need to mainly lower low to mid bass. So I thought if I could get a low latency SPIDIF In/out EQ device that could work. It needs...- TrantaLocked

Where can I buy custom impedance adapters for 2ohm and 10ohm?
Preferably something like the Etymotic 75ohm adapter, but one in 2ohm and one in 10ohm. Edit: I actually already own a volume adapter that works: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=earphone+in+line+volume+control+cable+male+to+f+3.5mm+stereo+audio+adaptor&_sacat=0...- TrantaLocked

HT Omega Fenix PCIe audio glitching/freezing
**EDIT**: The solution that worked for me was to uninstall the HT OMEGA driver in Device Manager after the Win 10 driver package has already been installed. Then the generic driver for "High Definition Audio Device" from May 2020 takes over, and functionality still works. Since this does appear...- TrantaLocked

Anyone else who EQs their KZ ZSN Pro/Pro X help me out?
I have an interest in getting this perfect because I do enjoy the sound from these when EQ'd. My starting EQ sounded good but what it evolved into sounds loads better but I feel like I might be missing something. Here is that EQ from Equalizer APO: I know I neglected refinement in the bass...- TrantaLocked

Sennheiser CX 100 great performance when EQ'd
Update 1/26/2021: It was a ride with these earphones but now I've gotta call it quits. The rubber quality on these is atrocious, falling apart pretty much everywhere now as a result of being used in bed. I tried to patch these areas up but new breaks form and now the wiring has frayed at certain...- TrantaLocked

Analog vs digital input for a class D amplifier?
An Edifier rep told me that the signal conversion process inside their bookshelf speakers with a class D amp would be more like an ADC (analog to digital converter) which made me think giving it a digital signal would be better, but after looking into myself I thought it still made more sense...- TrantaLocked

Using S/PDIF leads directly from the toslink port on X-Fi Titanium
edit: So I've learned that I shouldn't do any of the below because voltage levels are different for the S/PDIF signal sent to optical terminals vs COAX terminals. If I directly connect a COAX cable to the pins on the optical connector on the X-Fi card, up to 5v will be sent over the COAX cable...- TrantaLocked

Warning: fraud sellers on amazon selling amps and headphones at half price
First one was "cadoa shop," new one is "mlyj shop." These sellers are pretending to sell legit items but actually have no product and just provide fake tracking numbers from Europe in an attempt to make money from amazon before getting shut down. Cadoa shop had the same exact items as mlyj shop...- TrantaLocked

Headphones and maximum SPL?
When a headphone has a stated max spl, this means at that dB level any louder noises will clip correct? And if so, is a headphone designed not to be damaged at that maximum? Can the diaphragm ever become damaged from music? How much power do you need to cause electrical damage or over heat? ...- TrantaLocked

Heaven II vs IV
Anyone with experience with both have any thoughts on the comparison? I initially chose the II because the freq curve from innerfidelty is nearly exactly what I want but I've read something about the IV having a better high end, something I'm pretty interested in. If there's anything else...- TrantaLocked

Need help from other Sennheiser IE6 owners

Help choosing: NVX-XPT100 vs HD 280 vs HD 598 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
I am a previous owner of the HD 280 and actually loved the set, but had to return them for money issues. My main issue with the 280 was that they had a bit too much sub bass and not enough detail/texture in the upper mids and treble (the 280s have a pretty substantial fall off at around 4K)...- TrantaLocked

Help understanding EQ settings
I found that Windows has a built in, master EQ (at least for my particular Realtek chipset) and I wanted to try using it for my new HD 280s to tune down the sub bass. I've used EQs before, but I have a question about how a basic like this works. So if I lower 32Hz, is ONLY 32Hz lowered, or...- TrantaLocked

Looking for a set similar in sound to the HD 280 Pro but with slightly less deep bass.
I really like the 280s bought today, though I just wish it had a few decibels less deep bass (the headroom chart shows it has a hump from 20-50Hz). Any pairs, particularly Sennheiser, out there with a very similar but with slightly less deep bass? Also, anything around $100 or less.- TrantaLocked

Looking for flat performing (from 10 to 10K) closed heaphones without a significant 10K bump
Hey guys. I own the HD 201 and today I bought and soon after returned the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm. The HD 201's are naturally darkish with a deep bass rolloff, though with my velour pads some of the bass is retained. The DT 770 80 ohm pretty much defines the V shape frequency response...- TrantaLocked

Best closed headphones?
I was ready to buy the HD 598 but realized they are open, and I am looking for closed headphones. I would honestly buy the Momentum set if they came in a larger shell...- TrantaLocked

Thoughts on the Sennheiser models I tried out (HD 800, HD 518, Momentum, PXC 450, plus Audio Technica ATH-W1000x Grandioso)
Today, I went and tried out a few headphone models at Best Buy to compare to my Sennheiser HD 201 (with HD 438 velour pad replacements, very important factor here). I tested songs from Daft Punk''s new album "RAM" and songs from Misery Signal's new album "Absent Light." My setup was Windows...- TrantaLocked

Looking for in-ear buds slightly larger than standard large Sennheiser ear buds
I own the Sennheiser IE 6, and while I am out and about the headphones easily move out of a good position. I can get a good seal, but the good seal is too easily broken, even with the large ear buds. So, I am looking for ear buds slightly larger, and if possible, slightly longer than the...- TrantaLocked

Headphones with X-Fi Go! impedance?
I'm kind of angry because my internal laptop (Sager NP9150) sound chip sucks for headphones (low audio volume, barely any bass). And now after ordering the X-Fi Go! Pro on amazon I read a review It states: "and a somewhat high output impedance. I would not use the X-Fi with any...- TrantaLocked
