I would like to hear from anyone who's heard both of these mini DACs. I love the D3 but issues are slowly developing and I need a widely available replacement as the D3 has been EOL for a long time.
The D3 has an AK4396 and the DAC3 has an ESS ES9281A Pro. There are different DACs from different eras. But what I believe is the more important part is that both use the same LME49726 amplifier! This part really surprised me when I was looking into details about the DAC3. That is probably the main reason the D3 is my favorite among all the mini DACs I've tried.
