thieaudio phantom information?
If anything, it's like a sickle :D It's flat until you get to around 1khz, then it takes a big dip coming back up after 4khz, with a spike at around 6khz; at least that's what graphs show. Empirically, it does sound like the upper mids are way way recessed and the headphones are dark and...- MartinDF

thieaudio phantom information?
Yes these will easily feel like an upgrade to the M50X. I can only hear up to around 17khz and I don't find these to be sibilant, but they can get shouty if you're too used to more recessed highs. At first I found them enjoyable but underwhelming, as the sound is noticeably veiled even if still...- MartinDF

There is no objective evidence of burn-in in dynamic headphones, much less in BA drivers. If you have already discarded the possibility of your source being the issue, I suggest you exchange them now because the sound won't get better.- MartinDF

I was actually inspired by casper to do just that. Even if I end up liking the hi250 I'll just get another and install the AD2000 drivers; I'm even roaming aliexpress to find a decent stainless steel mesh.- MartinDF

Aliexpress. I'm not in the US. EDIT: The most terrible thing about it is that I have to go on a trip next wednesday, and won't be back until the 21st. So if they come, I'll probably need to go to the post office to pick up the stuff. The HM5 pads should be coming with it at around the same time.- MartinDF

Press Release: Sennheiser launches URBANITE headphones
There's no point in me arguing against this because it's your opinion, but for what it's worth, I think you're wrong. The solo 2 sounds good, but it's not something that will get people into purchasing better audio, it will just make them buy the next iteration of Beats. People buy Beats...- MartinDF

Press Release: Sennheiser launches URBANITE headphones
1 - the majority of people know that there's high end audio but they don't care enough to get into it. I assume that it's just an expense they would make if they suddenly become millionaires and say "why not". 2 - You shouldn't care about what people think of your money spending habits ...- MartinDF

Press Release: Sennheiser launches URBANITE headphones
That's not what this is. Expensive headphones are already in the mainstream, people just don't care about sound quality more than they care about fitting in. And don't be a fool, if Senn gains marketshare, they will only increase the prices of their products, as any company should after getting...- MartinDF

Press Release: Sennheiser launches URBANITE headphones
I understand that they don't want to miss out on the market, but Beats is a brand that has nothing to do with sound quality. People buy them because they're heavily associated with fashion and pop culture. Unless they start seeing artists and famous people wearing Sennheiser, they're not going...- MartinDF

I actually ordered a pair of those pads with my hi2050s. I figured it would help with the sibilance I see people complaining about; I also got a new DAC, a VMV Magic, which is supposedly warm and musical, to see how it pairs with these cans and the O2. I hope they come by the end of the week...- MartinDF

I have an E5 and just tried it; it does help a lot. EDIT: It actually helps with soundstage and bass on my Nexus 5 too. If you have an android phone, download viper4android and enable viper bass, and set as parameters: natural bass;80Hz;11.0dB. The sound is pretty great.- MartinDF
