    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Finally got a better seal on the EDSE, with the VSonic GR07 stock tips of all things...   I like them a lot better now.  Too tired to do a detailed comparison, but now I find them as engaging as the ES.  Now I have to figure out which I like best, but that's a good problem to have...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Been lurking here a while... I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this thread.  I'd been looking for throwaways for a long time, given how flimsy my VSDS1's cable is.  Started to really dislike the Brainwavz M1 as being totally devoid of any kind of treble sparkle.   Ordered the GR...

Sony Hybrid Tips vs Comply vs any others?

Hmm... Please note that I posted this in 2011... things have changed since then.   For one, Original Sony Hybrids used to be 18$.  They still have the same problem they used to have though--lostearbuds sells the sizes you need only, but the Sony pack comes with all sizes, so it's kind of...

Multiple Budget IEMs Reviewed - [22] Total - (Samsung Stock EHS44 Added)

My own pair of white xkdun's does exhibit driver flex, but it's not terrible... about on par with the Xears TD-100-II, nowhere near as bad as those AWEI I have or the Xears PB120. I didn't mention it in the thread because I'm not too annoyed by it.  Those are non-vented dynamics, and all my...

Quote:   Search a bit and you'll see me as well :)   I don't buy their IEMs anymore, although I have a lot of respect for them.  The prices just aren't as good as they used to be (even with coupon code... I got the Xears TD-II for 25$) and the housings tend to be too large for my poor...

It's raining bang for buck IEMs!

It's raining bang for buck IEMs!

Quote:   I suspect it's the cheaper because the others all have a microphone.  It's not the cheapest, though; this one is: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/fashionable-3-5-mm-in-ear-cushion-style-stereo-earphone-for-iphone-silver-105642   I'm still very skeptical that those are similar...

It's raining bang for buck IEMs!

Quote: I have a pair of AWEI ES600-m which I'm still test-driving/burning in.   Those are NOT Xears drivers, although they could be seen as having a similar signature to some pairs (i.e., crazy big bass).   There is some sparkle so I find them better than, say, the Kanen KM92...

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

Dsnuts: yes, I plan on trying that as soon as I get some time, which may not be very soon unfortunately (toddler at home, that takes a lot of time...)   I still consider this a great find.  Wish they'd have longer nozzles or something.  Wouldn't take that much to make them comfortable, really...

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

Well, I've moved on to other cheapies because fit is... well... impossibly painful for any length of time greater than an hour for me, but I must say the monoprice were AWESOME for metal.  Electric guitars sounded really good.  Certainly no IEM does electric guitars better at that price point!

After spending more time with them, I've realized that they are not very smooth... somewhat fatiguing.  Nice detail, but not very refined and that makes them unsuited for long sessions, especially with such an inconvenient housing.  So I'd lower my assesment to 6.5/10 for now.  Granted, I'm...

Quote: Yes. However, the manufacturer does not claim "Super Bass" the way SoundMagic does, it's a third of the price, and the reviewer there (not that I know the guy, could be paid for it for all I know...) seems to suggest the bass is pretty clean... which is not really the case for...

Final impressions on my part:   Those are actually pretty good, I'm not skeptical anymore.   Against the GR07, they lack a certain lushness, probably because the midrange is not as proeminent (I'd say the monoprice is slightly V-shaped, but I'm not an expert.  But they do have relatively...

    Amazing Xears coupon code

Try the TD II BLK... Mine is the non-black version, but it's held up pretty well build-quality wise.  I still listen to mine despite having bought the VSonic GR07.

Well, further (partial) impressions:   Did get a seal, both with MEE double flanges and Sony Hybrids.  It's one of the few earphones that actually need real hybrids for me, the fakes won't work.  That's a first...  Both fits are uncomfortable, hybrids because the darn housing rubs my ear...

Well, got my own.  Unable to get a seal with stock tips (well, I felt like I got some seal at one point but I doubt it, unless they're majorly inefficient... I need to pump the volume WAY up), I'll try tonight with some from my extensive tips collection.   Those stock tips are slightly...

Quote: No to the second one at least.  Look at the other pictures of the housing on the Monoprice site, the Monoprice earphone has a housing that's meant for half-insertion.  Those are not the Cyclone/Lear/ViSang/old VSonic generic IEM housing.  They remind me of some half in-ear...

In for one pair since it's back in stock and I need some long cat6 cables anyhow.   I'm somewhat skeptical (after all some people liked the Kanen KM-92... I did when they were my only IEMs, but ever since I got the Soundmagic PL-21, I can't stand them at all), yet mildly hopeful.  And I have...

I appreciate the Xears earphones myself, but I'm sure you won't regret the GR07.  Just make sure you give it enough burn-in time; it's the rare earphone that truly needs it IMHO.  Mine sounded borderline shrill at first, but now... wow.   Still, I have a healthy respect for the TD100-II I...

    Best IEM for 50 USD

I'd definitely recommend the Xears TD series over the Sennheisers you've enumerated and the Skullcandies.  I think they'd do well with the genres you've enumerated, and although they have bass presence, it's not monstrous by any means.  I don't consider the M1 bass to be much lower, for...

    VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread

Since this is an appreciation thread, here's mine:   It's an awesome pair. The only way I can stand my M1s now that I have the GR07 is to listen to a really crappy pair just before I put on the M1s, otherwise they annoy me.  Don't get me wrong, the M1s are very, very good.  But the GR07 are...
