    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Just opened mine now. Both drivers had "12061" hand engraved on them, the left one had a "2" over that, the right one a "3". Once again I have the feeling I haven't found out anything new about them (and their real age), but to be honest it doesn't really bother me, because they sound fabulous...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Quote: Yes, they are titled DT48S, have chromed cups, the grey pad on the headband and are labeled as 25Ω. The pads weren't the original ones though and I don't know how old they are. If I get a matching screwdriver, I could open them up and look whether there's a production date that...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I'm quite happy how my DT48S @25 Ohm (probably not the old Nagra edition) sounds out of my small DAC, so yes, unless I have too much money to spend, I won't bother buying other versions to compare as well.

Tube amp to tame Grado Highs

It would be more effective to use either EQ, mod them a bit (a thin piece of cloth is very good for that) or get headphones with less agressive highs.

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

KBI did compare them to a HD800 several times, some other's did as well (just google "DT48 HD800"). They should be similiar, but the problem is that with the roll off on both sides of the frequency graph it's hard to say whether the superiority/equality of the HD800 is real or only faked by...

Umm, yeah. Have you at least tried them out for some time or are you only rambling about stuff you haven't experienced yourself yet?

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Obviously my argumentation was about that when headphone graphs after a certain part goes wild (upper highs especially), you can't really use that part for prediction of a headphones treble sound. If I suspect a bass roll off, a not so far going frequency graph will neither prove or make my...

Uhmm, yeah, the FF graph doesn't go below 200 Hz.

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

If his amp has an output impedance of 120Ω, it could indeed bend the frequency graph to a more neutral curve. You can simulate that by plugging an 120Ω adaptor between your amp (with around 0Ω output impedance of course) and the DT48.   Using low impedance outputs however makes them sound...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

The DT48 seem to be tuned to a free field response in contrast to many other headphones which are tuned to diffuse field response. Because free field sound (like things played live outside) doesn't have much bass or highs, it seems to match to their treble and lows rolling off early. This would...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Well, the TripleFi 10 is one of the few exceptions of reosanably priced BA bases IEMs with heavy bass emphasis due to the three drivers used. The Fischer DBA-02 (or Brainwavz B2) tries to accomplish the same with two drivers, but doesn't really succeed.   So I wouldn't put them in the same...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I'd rather call the TripleFi 10 the polar opposite to the DT48. Unfortunately I can't compare them directly right now, but these IEMs definitely rival them in terms of speed, detail and preciseness.   People who know a little bit more about BA based in-ears, should know their further...

    BASS Head Headphones help

You know, that when headphones get to the stage of vibrating on your head, most times everything apart from the bass doesn't sound that well anymore. Go and test a XB500/700 to know what the maximum is, if it's still not enough for you, then headphones apparently aren't the right choice for you :P

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Finally I've got some new earpads for my DT48S because the old one started tearing.   Bass quantity improved a little bit as well as soundstage. Comfort is incredible in comparision to before. Almost reminds me of the DT150. The only downside is that I have to turn the volume up a little...

Looking for Beats by Dre tour... Are these real???

Probably not. Just look at the other products advertised and the domain and the contact adress.   But you're lucky that the Beats in-ears are probably the worst ones you can get for that price. Everything else will be loads better, as long as you are not buying earbuds or other crap with bad...

Review by 'webspider' on item 'Koss PortaPro - Headphones ( semi-open )'

After my previous skullcandys my parents gave me as a present broke, I went to a store for electronic stuff in general and tested some headphones. The standard Porta Pro as well. The bass was cool, especially because it came out from nowhere.   Some days later I bought the anniversary...

Review by 'webspider' on item 'Lowrider Headphones - Color: Lime / Black'

After having tried out various earbuds, I told my parents that I wanted good headphones for my birthday. Somehow they decided for these ones and I was happy to have a bit better sound than before. I even don't remember the sound signature anymore. The design matches perfectly all the skater boys...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I think my ears have fully accustomed to their sound signature. Even electronic music becomes listenable.   What I don't understand in here is why everyone is trying to scare people from even trying them out. First you need to have experienced that quantities of bass are less important than...
