Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Very different beasts in my opinion. The fi-ba-ss is the king of detail and raw emotion. The Lab 1 is technically very good and no doubt a top performer but I feel it is a safer sound prob a better all rounder, but for me it cannot generate the emotion and excitement in the music that the...- youngsm10

New Custom-to-Universal IEMs: InEar StageDiver 2/3
Well, I've got them now the sd4 that is. I've had a quick chance to compare them to the sd2 that I also have and really like. I'll begin by saying that the sd4 bass is really really nice. I'm not a bass head but the bass goes very low, great sub bass much more than the sd2. The mid bass is...- youngsm10

I've just ordered a pair of SD4 from Thomann. Really hoping for a more refined sd2 with a bit more high end sparkle. Anyone have any ideas how these might sound??- youngsm10

GRADO GR10: Reviews, First Impressions Thread
I agree with everything here, the GR10 are very special and unique. They have tho euphoric and engaging sound I have ever heard in an iem. I've not heard the re400 but I have heard the 600. The 600 is ok and does nothing wrong but it didn't make the hairs in the back of my neck stick up like the...- youngsm10

GRADO GR10: Reviews, First Impressions Thread
Further to this I have given them a good listen for a couple of hours and from memory the bass impact is actually less on this new design than I can remember from the old . I think the bass goes slightly lower but impact wise very weak. Shame really as less bass impact is definitely what the...- youngsm10

GRADO GR10: Reviews, First Impressions Thread
I can't see any other changes . I got confirmation from Grado UK any Grado US just to be sure . I'm really interested to see if this has changed the sound significantly . I'll have a good listen over the next few days and report back. Trouble is I got rid of my original gr10 a couple of months...- youngsm10

GRADO GR10: Reviews, First Impressions Thread
I've just brought the GR10 for the second time and noticed some differences in the design. They had a hole in the green body underneath just in front of the stain relief. Cosmetically the silver nozzle part was shiny silver instead of brushed and dull in color . I thought that I had ended up...- youngsm10

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
I have the fi-ba-ss, and while I find them incredible , especially the sub bass impact and the incredible instrument separation ( really the best instrument separation and imaging I have ever heard, better than the heaven vi and grado gr10, Ortofon eq7 and 8). The highs though are really untamed...- youngsm10

GRADO GR10: Reviews, First Impressions Thread
I have a love hate relationship with my GR10. sometimes I think they are the best item in the world. The euphoric spacious sound is very appealing and makes all my music just come to life. I have had many a goose bump moment with the Grados when I just can't believe how much emotion they can...- youngsm10

If your looking for Grado sound and separation the eq8 will be fatiguing for you. The FAD heaven vi would be better . I have a brand new pair for sale if you are interested ?- youngsm10

Review by 'youngsm10' on item 'Ortofon e-Q8 in-ear earphones'
Ortofon EQ8 review, with some comparison to the Ortofon EQ7 and EQ5 Ortofon have now released a follow up to the very successful EQ7 from 2009 and the EQ5 in 2010. EQ8 The Ortofon E-Q8, Are they any good and how do they compare to the EQ5 and and the EQ7? Who am I to judge...- youngsm10

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Ha ha yes FAD do seem to have a very unique pricing structure. They must pay their research and development department an absolute fortune as they do come up with amazing (unique) looking and often amazing(unique) sounding products. Most of which only appeals to a small audience. Although you...- youngsm10

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Wow they certainly look unique, although I think FAD have maybe gone a step to far with their boutique design this time. Not sure I actually like the design. One thing I have learnt about FAD is not to judge a book by its cover as I really do not like the design of the heaven Vi copper housing...- youngsm10

what is the BEST IEM FOR VOCAL??
For me it really has to be the final audio design heaven vi, they are just stunning with vocals, male and female, I've never heard anything like it and I've owned many decent iems, such as the ue900, re600, se535, fitear f111, Ortofon eq5,7,8. Grado gr10, heir 5, fad fi-ba-ss. The Heaven vi were...- youngsm10

Thanks I might give them a go, I sold my eq8 in the end, I miss them now , just haven't been able to find anything else with the bass quality of the EQ8 , a Though I did find the highs a bit peaky. I've tried re600, heir 5, heaven vi, fi-ba-ss. I've got the fitear f111 coming tomorrow so...- youngsm10

Noble 4 Impressions Thread
Great that's reassuring , if it is fairly neutral , but enjoyable with a decent soundstage and imaging, I'm sure I will enjoy it. I've struggled so far with multi armature IEMs , Ive briefly owned the sm3, westone 4 and sure se530 and found them all a bit lifeless and boring. I'm still very...- youngsm10

Ortofon e-Q8 Impressions Thread (new 2014 successor of the e-Q7 / e-Q5)
I mainly listen to guitar based music, so that's probably why I had such a favourable impression of them. I've never used the JVC's , but I'll keep an eye out for them. Over the last week or so I'm finding the over forwardness a little too much and I keep going back to my EQ5 for a more...- youngsm10

Ortofon e-Q8 Impressions Thread (new 2014 successor of the e-Q7 / e-Q5)
Well the EQ8 and W4 are pretty much polar opposites, one is very laid back (w4) and the other (EQ8)are very forward . I've not heard the N4? The EQ8 are represent all the frequency range very well, but does have this peak in the upper mids, but who knows you might like it. The Bass quality on...- youngsm10
