Yeah the 770 is good for gaming. I used to tuck a labtec stick mic under one of the earpads until I got a Logitech HD webcam C510 for $40 at office max. The thing works sweet, way better than a mic mod imo. It just sits on top of my monitor and my friends can hear me just as good. Just a thought.

With a powerful amp with lots of current the K702's sound awesome. If you power them from a receiver even a really nice one you only get about half of what they are capable of, I tried it (out of a higher end Yamaha). I hope you enjoy the 880's they are really nice cans.

I own both, and they are both good at what you describe. The K702 is harder to drive though from my experience. I would suggest going with the DT880 if you are going to be using it with your receiver.

Glad to hear that helped. I think low gain should be enough volume too. When I think of it, mine was really quiet too before I cleaned the tube. I just couldn't tell because the crackling sound was so bad I couldn't stand turning it up.
