California Audio Labs Sigma II DAC Distortion
Hello, been an extremely long time since I last signed on here. But I have done some changes to my audio setup now, and would like an opinion on where to first diagnose one of the problems I'm facing with my Sigma II DAC. This is the original model, not the 24/96 upgraded model. As far as...- mmd8x28

32KHz Audio
I was just told that using 32KHz on my DAC on my computer is better than using 44KHz. The only DAC I have that can even handle this is a Burr Brown PCM2702, but this doesn't make any sense to me, seems more like a downgrade. Can anyone elaborate on this for me?- mmd8x28

Loosing Bass
I noticed recently that I am loosing bass on my Hifiman EF2, and thought the amp was going sour. But I tried a different set of vacuum tubes, and the bass is back, but have a "whobbly" sound when bass is played, like it's being lazy. The tubes that ARE able to play bass are Philco's from...- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
My Maximo iems fell apart on me this night. I was pulling out one of the sides out, and half of it came out, with the driver and foam tips still in the ear. Uh, ok. So what iem is NOT made that cheap? Without killing my wallet.- mmd8x28

Hifiman EF2 Not Loud with new Headphones
I just got myself some new headphones, Koss Pro4AAT, and they are 250 ohm, 10Hz-25KHz, but I have to crank the EF2 up to the max to get it loud enough to be enjoyable. Usually with my IEM's all it needs is a 12 o' clock position... Anyway to get more "juice" out of this amp? My Onkyo amp...- mmd8x28

Koss Pro4 AAT
I just got these the other day while I was out looking for some new headphones (I grew tired of IEMs). I knew when I bought these they would be mostly a flat EQ rather than character, but that was ok, I'm doing video production too now and I need something good when video editing, but...- mmd8x28

Resquencing old video game music
I thought it'd be cool to take a classic theme from the Sega Genesis, the music for Sonic the Hedgehog, and bring it back to life, NOT in the style of your usual remix. This remix tries to make it sound as close as possible to the original, while still feeling fresh. ...- mmd8x28

Modern Tube Amp
I placed an order on this thing. Main reason for ordering it was to test it. There was a discussion on Audio Karma weather this thing is real or not, and that the tubes probably aren't actually in the signal path. So I ordered it, gonna take it apart, and take a look, and test it's sound...- mmd8x28

Movie Camera
Not a video camera, but a movie camera. I feel all cameras that are "pro" are movies cameras, particularly ones that do 24fps. So recently I've felt I need a new camera for my needs, of wanting to be a film maker. My little 1080p 30hz camera wasn't cutting it, it's cheap, low light is...- mmd8x28

Burning in, even on home made drivers?
So I made my own headphones today. Literally, even the drivers are home made. My drivers have a wax paper diagphram that is sanded down to be thin, but still tough, with magnet wire super clued in a perfect cylinder on it, around a neodymium magnet. Yes, a home made moving coil driver...- mmd8x28

Audio cable braiding
Couple questions. I'm making my own pair of headphones tomorrow, and am going to make my own cable for it too. How do I actually braid a wire? It's going to have either 3 or 4 wires coming from the headphone jack.. Standard Stereo Phone Plug - RadioShack.com (I'm thinking either 3...- mmd8x28

Pro-80 Titanium?
I found these headphones in my fathers box of old music studio stuff (back from the early 90's.) They work, sorta. Bass is rather disappointing and treble is rich. Any info about these?- mmd8x28

Making my own headphones
I have two drivers, spare time, and the urge to buy cheap working ear protectors (like you see workers wearing when using a loud jack hammer). I'm thinking about putting the drivers in one, connecting it.. I think I can do this, make something interesting. The drivers are 1.5" in size!- mmd8x28

This looks about right.
I did some calibration and testing, with my HDV 1080p video camera. I think these colors look about right. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...gon/hdtest.jpg I chose to test against my bedroom window, because the house paint really IS that vibrant, that way I set the limits on how...- mmd8x28

Shops in Orlando
Are there any good headphone shops in Orlando? I want to get the Panasonic RP-HTX7PP, but can't find ANY shop that even has them. I hate waiting for shipping, and want to get it cheap tomorrow. I can find it as low as $30 online, and surely I can get it close to that price in person.- mmd8x28

Mac Media Player
I know I know, a lot of these threads have been started, however I've been racking my brain over a media player I saw, and I can't remember the name of it. Songbird sounds muffled
I thought I'd give Songbird a try, and despite it crashing on first load right after playing an iTunes purchased file, but now seems to be working. But, after duplicating my iTunes EQ settings, it sounds more muffled than iTunes, to the point I don't really like it. Are the EQ's just on a...- mmd8x28

Audiologists
How much does an audiologist usually cost, to see how my hearing performs? I hope not that much, and by not that much, not over 20 dollars.. I don't have health insurance due to my layoff a year ago and STILL can't get even a call back from jobs.- mmd8x28

Making my own RCA cable
I want to make my own good quality RCA audio cable.
