    Topping A90

This is some nightmare scenario for any head-fi'er :astonished: Sorry to hear that. Hope they at least replace the A90.

A headphone tribute goodbye to Tyll from Innerfidelity

I miss Tyll, he was the only reviewer I really trusted. There are too many sponsored reviewers now, and albeit much better production value but little to no substantive / credible info. Everybody uses graphs now with the typical audiophile jargons but it's amazing how it still leaves me so...

It is a snug fit but hasn't left any marks for me.

    Focal Clear headphones

Someone in this thread found a headband cover designed for the M50 on amazon. It was relatively cheap. Looks like this:

I haven't heard the 789 so take this for what it's worth but the general consensus seems to be that the difference is not significant enough to warrant an upgrade.

    Focal Clear headphones

Thanks! That blurry picture is my original Lyr, with adapters and TS 2C51's. I get no hums for any of the headphones including the Clears, but it depends on the tubes. I do get slight humming on another orange globes I own, but had pretty good luck as long as I get matched pairs. Even without...

    Focal Clear headphones

I had mine custom made by customcans.co.uk They use paracords so it's very light, flexible and coils easily when you put them away. You can choose the connector types and the color of the cables.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Yep, I'd agree with this as well. The HE500 sounds anemic when underpowered.

Seconded on the customcans, they make quality cables at affordable prices. Looks nice too.

    Focal Clear headphones

Yeah the Clears are efficient headphones and sound good out of most gear (I don't care what everybody else says). My regular Dragonfly's drive them just fine and they still sound superb. My D90/A90 stack sounds better but was it worth the cost? Nope, but then again this hobby is a rabbit hole

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

This was a $10 mod and it works really well - It's a headband cushion replacement for HD650/HD600 from amazon (non-oem). I just use a strong 3M double sided tape, and it's stayed in place without a problem. IMO it looks a lot better than the dakoni nugget pads, and it's very comfortable. I can...

    Focal Clear headphones

Similar shoes except I have the HE500's, and they complement the Clears well. If the Clears are a scalpel used for brain surgery, the HE500's are more like a single malt scotch with some Cuban cigars :)

Just got the TS 2c51 with adapters and oh my... these are some amazing tubes.

    Focal Clear headphones

I'm on the same boat. I get too distracted working from home with the clears. I'd recommend some kind of orthodynamic headphones. You should check out the Ether 2's, as they have a great resolving yet laid back signature. It's also very light and comfortable. I have the HE500 and I use them...

Anybody try the D90/A90 stack with Focal headphones? I'm worried it might become too bright/analytical.

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...

Thanks! They're called Kanto YU2's. The company is actually near where I live which is how I got to know them. They're compact and I like the simple design and built in dac/amp. A lot of people compare these to the Audioengine A2+'s but the YU2's to be more on the neutral side. I haven't...
