[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Why do you keep repeating it "many times" then? The more times you say it doesn't count for more of a sample size, you still only have 1 pair of X1s... Clearly there are lots of people with ink bleeding, it's not some kind of conspiracy theory as you seem to be making it out to be.- lawrywild

Grado modders go Magnum
Thanks I was mainly wondering about the detail so looks like SennGrado probably isn't worth my time. I use taped L-cush with my Magnums so they've always had plenty of bass.- lawrywild

I de-anodized the black cover of my D100 so that it would match the Burson- lawrywild

Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
I don't really have too many issues with the stock cable. As it's so long it just sits on the floor and so the kinks don't really affect anything. I wouldn't mind straightening it out just to satisfy my OCD if anyone figures out how to do it. I usually make custom cables for my headphones but I...- lawrywild

That sounds exactly what I'm looking for. I like the sound of the HD700 through my Yulong D100 mkII (warm, full, good bass weight) but it has a stepped volume pot without enough steps for me so looking at Asgard 2, NuForce HA-200 and Burson Soloist SL atm (want to move away from my tube amps...- lawrywild

DIY Cable Gallery!!
Thanks man. As mentioned, the connectors are 3.5mm Amphenol's, got them from Redco. The sleeving is indeed Tech Flex Multifilament - I think the size is 3/16" but I bought it a long time ago so I'm not 100% sure.- lawrywild

For me it's the details as mentioned, but also the instrument separation. It doesn't feel like I'm just listening to a recording where everything is one analogue signal, it feels like I'm listening to a load of separate instruments playing together, very cool.- lawrywild

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I doubt the dye is dangerous either, it's more the staining of my (extremely handsome) face I'm worried about I've been trying to soak out the dye from the skin contact area by clamping the X1 on an omega stand wrapped in inkjet paper. It seems to be working well so far, on the 3rd iteration...- lawrywild

Try the ADA4627, I prefer it to the OPA827 (albeit in a different amp but worth a try - available as free samples) ;)- lawrywild

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I'm fine with the X1s, the X2s were $100 more and I wanted the (apparently) more bassy one anyway. If I want clarity and treble, then I'll listen to another headphone for that. edit: Also I prefer the X1 aesthetics- lawrywild

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Here's the sheet of paper from 48 hours on my omega stand... You might be able to see that there's actually a small amount of dye off the headband as well, near the sellotape. Going to continue to soak it out..- lawrywild

I just pull them straight out, no twisting needed. Had my HD700s for just over a week now. The treble no longer bothers me at all and they just sound amazing. I wish there was a bit more bass impact but that's about it really. The detail retrieval is several steps above anything else I...- lawrywild

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Since I have the X1 without (easily) removable pads, I'm going to try to soak out the dye. I've wrapped my omega stand with inkjet paper and I'll leave it there for 48 hours, then switch the paper leave for another 48 hours etc. Obviously this won't remove the ink from the sides but at least...- lawrywild
