[New] Philips Fidelio X1

I finally got my modi magni2 stack for my x1s!
Now im just wondering, what gain setting is optimal for these headphones?
I find that high gain gives you a more in your face sound?

Do whatever sounds good to you. Just don't damage your hearing in doing so.

X1 maximum input power is ~500mW. I use my Aune T1 @ mid-gain which gives out ~400mW. I tried on low gain and high gain also and I find it sounding best @ mid gain.
High gain shouldn`t affect sound signature, only make it more "harsh". X1 has large soundstage and more like "out of Your face" sound imo, hard to imagine it sounding "in Your face", maybe it`s from the DAC/amp which isn`t up to X1 soundstage capabilities?

In my experience, (and I have only owned low impedance phones) including the X1, using the high gain setting on amps has always caused a more "in your face" kind of sound which for me sounds less natural and takes away from the soundstage.  I would stick with low gain unless that "in your face" sound is more to your liking. Not me though, and definitely not with the X1.

I just got an X1 in a trade.  I am simply shocked with how good they sound.  They are my new favorite headphones under $400.  I like them more than the DT880, HD600, HE400, SRH840, K612, and my previous favorite SR325is.  The soundstage is simply amazing.  I only slightly prefer my HD700.

I prefer my HD600s to these, but I agree that the soundstage on these are fantastic. They have a little too much bass for me sometimes and the vocal positioning feels a little weird in comparison to other parts of the spectrum, but they're stellar headphpones.

Hey philips fidelio x1 owners

I'm just wondering if the earpads on x1 bled ink dye like x2??

Cause i might consider x1, if x2 have a harmful potential.

Seems like it can be a mixed bag? I'm actually not sure how many X1 owners have the ink bleed problem. I certainly don't have an ink bleed problem with my set of X1s.

sometimes I`m thinking that this kind of negative hype is started by rival companies, especially in case of products like X1 & X2 which offer way above their price tag imho.

I absolutely love my X1's, but they do bleed on everything I set them on. Ruined a couple of sheets and documents that way. I just make sure that I put them back on their stand or in a case when I'm done listening for the day.

Definitely ink bleed over here as well, though I don't let it put on any sheet etc anymore.
But it looks like it's less bleeding then in the beginning. I don't worry much about it anyway.
But the sound is still excellent, in fact I have them on right now listening to a music session I had today. :)

They may or may not bleed depending on the batch it seems. Mine bleed.
