Closed, Classical, DT150/DT250?
I'd like to buy a pair of closed headphones for listening late at night. My budget is about £150 which puts both these phones well in price range. Just wondering what people's opinions on them are for classical music, what with the closed design? I need a closed pair to minimise leaking...- Mato

New 'phones (any AT owners appreciated!)
So I've been happily living with my AT ATH-ESW9 headphones for over two years now. I love them. Unfortunately a bit has cracked and a screw thread broken so while they've been waiting to be fixed I've been using my spare phones (Denon D1001) and everything sounds so BORING. Listening to my...- Mato

Comfort & Isolation for Tube
Hi all I'm looking for some IEMs to use on the tube. The most important factors are isolation and comfort - as long as the sound quality is decent and the isolation is good i'm not too fussed about sound signatures. My real question is whether the isolation comes from the phones, the...- Mato

What headphones/earphones do you use here? How well do they isolate? It's pretty damn noisy.- Mato

Change of plan
Because this year I've been in a situation where I cannot use my hi-fi, I've spent the whole year researching headphones which are known to do well primarily with classical music (in the hope of buying some). As the academic year ends, I will shortly be re-united with my Quads, and so think It...- Mato

HD600 not great?
Listened to some HD600s that my friend owns the other day. I didn't think they sounded that great! I listened to a variety of music at different recording qualities and thought it sounded really strange - I'm not very good at describing but the mids sounded really high maybe? I'm primarily...- Mato

D1001 v D2000
Are they sonically similar? I have tried the D1001 and AT ESW9 so far. I think the AT ESW9 are great portable headphones, but they don't make me go wow! I bought the D1001 to look at the Denon sound signature and while they were quite different to the ESW9, they too didn't make me go wow...- Mato

Most comfortable closed headphones
Looking for some fairly cheap closed headphones for general use, comfort being the most important issue. I have the Denon D1001s which are supposed to be quite comfortable! However I do wear them for very long periods of time, and after about 6-7 hours they begin to hurt the backs of my ears...- Mato

Does anyone know some open cans...
That would be good for chart music? Need to be open because I listen to classical music too. Budget of £250. I know people say they love the K70x for classical but I want something that excels at pop music too. Thanks in advance. =]- Mato

Open headphones for 50% Classical/50% Pop Listening
As the title states, which open headphones do you reckon would be most suitable for 50% Classical (Orchestral/Chamber)/50% Pop? Strict budget of £250 I'm guessing either DT880 or K701/2 will be the most popular suggestions?- Mato

Open 'phones c. £215
Looking for some open headphones with a budget of £215. I listen to lots of classical chamber and was hence considering the K701/2, however I also listen to lots of pop/chart music and so am having second thoughts. What do you guys think? How do the Sennheiser HD600/650s do? or maybe ATs or...- Mato

London Underground
Looking for a pair of portable headphones (not in-ear) suitable for commuting using the tube. Most listened-to genres are Classical, Pop and Dance (so need to be good all rounders I guess but want the classical to sound good). Budget is £200 or $320. Will noise-cancelling be a necessity...- Mato

AKG K701s
Thinking about buying a pair of these. Wondering whether listening to them through either my NAD C352 integrated amp or through a Beresford TC-7250 would be sufficient amping for them? Or would they need something more dedicated? Also, can some people assure me these are great cans for...- Mato

Two pairs needed
Hi, I need a couple of pairs of headphones, a pair for my home setup and a pair for travelling. I'm after some closed 'phones for my home setup which work well with a wide variety of music, but mainly classical (from large-scale orchestral to small chamber ensembles). Reason for closed...- Mato

Open Headphones Recommendation
Hi there, I'm looking for some headphones to listen to classical music with. I listen to a lot of classical music, but I will not be listening through an amp, mainly my computer and possibly occasionally a portable music player. My budget is £100. I have been told that the headphones...- Mato
