Sony HAP-Z1ES. New High-Res Streamer/Music Server from Sony

I've had my HAP-Z1ES for about a week now and am very happy with it. The player was very easy to setup and connect to my home Wi-Fi network. Just one minute after turning it on and connecting to my home network it notified me there was a newer version of the firmware and would I like to update...

iBasso DX100:24 bit for bit, PG 1> Reviews & Impressions, Downloads, VIDEO, NEW Firmware 1.4.2.

I think rooting the DX100 is way overrated. It has way more than enough memory and CPU power to handle a few small apps loaded in the background, in addition to the music player. Even if those apps slowed it down (which they don't) you can always get a task killer to stop them after you boot...

    Dedicated Digital Media Players

I'm looking for a dedicated digital media player that would feed my Schiit Gungnir DAC and Schiit Mjolnir headphone amp with hi-res music. Other than the Bryston BDP-2 there doesn't seem to be much out there to choose from. I don't even see a sub-category for such media players in this equipment...

Curse iBasso for making their AC adaptor so unique that it can't be replaced with any generic adaptor on the market. The closest I found matched all the specs -- except it was 2000mA instead of the required 1500mA. I guess the DX100 could sense that 2000mA was too much and didn't allow it to...

I'm trying to use a generic replacement power supply cord to charge my DX100... but without success. Can someone please look at their stock DC power supply and see if the inside contact that connects to the DX100 is + or -? Thanks.

You say you're demanding about quality. Well, which is more important? Sound quality or UI quality? If you get frustrated with a poor UI then the DX100 is not for you.   I think that BOTH of these two statements below have to be true in order for you to be happy with the DX100:   1. Sound...

With each media scan the DX100 searches for new m3u playlist files (ones that don't already exist in its database) and adds to the playlist database. It uses the m3u file name as the name of the playlist. If the file is blank it will then create an empty playlist. I would have thought that a...

No, I don't know about that external tool. But in the Andriod Settings screen, under "Storage", there is an option to Erase NAND flash. That's the quickest and easiest way to get rid of everything and start over. It's been discussed several times in this thread and I think is documented in...

There are only two ways (that I know of) to remove playlists: Erase ALL data in bulk (including your music), or long-press individual playlist items and select Delete. Yes, you have to do it one at a time. MediaMonkey won't do it for you.   You said you tried deleted them one at a time and...

Yes, the playlist function is bit quirky, and like almost everything else in the UI we wish iBasso had done a better job. But... it does the basic job it is set out to do. I use playlists almost exclusively and I have over 200 of them. I mostly create my playlists in MediaMonkey and then export...

Interesting. Are you saying you get nothing when playing a 24/192 file? If nothing else I would think your DAC would at least down sample it to 24/96. I've had two different optical cables connected from DX100 to my Schiit Gungnir and 24/192 worked with both. Now, since the Gungnir does not...

You can get cheap ones that play 24/192. I started out with a $2.50 one from Monoprice and then switched to one costing over 10x more from sys concept because they specifically mention theirs supports 24/196, whereas Monoprice just mentions theirs supports "High definition".   They both...

Getting a consensus might be difficult. I tried both coax and optical to my DAC and couldn't hear any difference. I ended up sticking with optical only because the cord was slightly lighter in weight. I also couldn't find a 6-foot coax cable that went straight from the DX100 to the DAC without...
