I'm looking for a dedicated digital media player that would feed my Schiit Gungnir DAC and Schiit Mjolnir headphone amp with hi-res music. Other than the Bryston BDP-2 there doesn't seem to be much out there to choose from. I don't even see a sub-category for such media players in this equipment forum. The Sony HAP-Z1ES looks closer to what I'm looking for... but it appears to have its own DAC, and thus does not have a SPDIF digital output

Is there anything else out there? I don't want a bulky PC.

Right now I'm using a portable iBasso DX100 DAP as my music transport. It's OK but I want something a little more specialized and permanent that would stack with my DAC and amp. More storage. The $3000 price of the Bryston BDP-2 seem a bit steep for what it does... and doesn't even have any built-in file storage. Is this just an equipment category that few companies are selling in?

Olive O4HD - CD transport, internal HDD, can rip discs, LAN connection allows checking track tags online as well as as remote apps on tablets/smartphones

Musical Fidelity M1 Clic - iPod transport, USB inputs for external HDDs, WLAN for remote apps and I think DLNA storage

Olive One - compact music server

Pioneer (or their Elite line) has a few, like this one - external storage only

Also Marantz

Aune S1 - external PSU, AKM4396 DAC circuit, SPDIF outputs, USB ports for external storage (HDD, thumb drives), SD slot, also LAN port for remote apps and NAS storage

Cocktail Audio X10 - DVD transport, internal HDD (some dealers sell them with a preinstalled drive), WiFi dongle for track tags and remote apps (dealer here last I checked sold these at around $700 with a 1TB HDD, WiFi dongle, and Castle mini-monitors as it has an internal speaker amp)
