I got a very lightly used Audeze LCD-2 rev2 + Audio GD NFB-10WM with Audeze balanced cable    All for $1.25K   A very happy head-fi-er now.

Hmm I see both rev 1 and 2 start their roll offs at around 1 khz. Only rev 1s roll of is steeper.

wow the krk 6400 FR looks very good for the price.   Not much bass roll off and no glaring treble spikes. 

I was on the same budget. Ended up with used (lightly) LCD 2s and nfb-10 for $1250.
