The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
Well the Stax Sr 007 mk1 and the sr009 were powered by a blue hawaii. I listened to the HE 1000 out of a WA5 and out of a gsx mk2. The Abyss was hooked into the WA5. I honestly wasn't expecting to like them much and I think thy are ugly. My first thought was "man these are uncomfortable". But...- goropeza

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I just got back from a head-fi meet in Austin and I found the Abyss to be my favorite cans there, even among Stax, he 1000 and LCD 4. Color me impressed- goropeza

Wow I was the same way on my first meet, I was super disappointed with the LCD 2. Later in my second meet I got to try the HD 800 on a Questyle CMA 800i and I was blown away! I was not expecting to be wowed so much by a headphone I kept hearing was "boring" and "clinical" in presentation, but an...- goropeza

Head-fi Austin - January 23 2016
If it's any help, I owned the D5000's, D7000s, LA 7000s, the TH 900 and now the LA 900. Although they were comparable, the TH 900 was in fact clearly better than the modded D7000. For this reason, I would expect the TH-X00 to be better as well. The thing the old modded denon cans have over the...- goropeza

Meh I tried the HDVA-600 with the HD 800 at one of the Nashville, TN meets and it sounded really clinical. It sounded really balanced, but very boring and lifeless. The Questyle amp was WAYYYY better and gave life to the HD 800 without sacrificing any sound stage or detail. I would recommend...- goropeza

Burson Conductor Impressions thread
"Upgrade" is a strong word for them to use in this ad, considering the 9018 chip is mostly considered to be the technically superior chip. I myself chose to get the 1793 because of my sonic preferences, regardless I wouldnt call it an "upgrade" over the 9018 necessarily. DIYers might find this...- goropeza

Im still stoked about all these new cans I'll get to listen to! Does anyone have a questyle amp? That thing with the HD 800 blew me away at the last meet I went to. Both of them are on my "want to buy list" I personally thought it sounded better than any of the Ether setups there (the Ether...- goropeza

Ive tried it once. SR 009 out of a Blue Hawaii is hands down the best system i have heard thus far. Every note is sooooo powerful. Almost dont even want to hear it again because I just cant afford it.- goropeza

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
I have owned the D5000 and the TH 900 is an ENORMOUS improvement over them. The TH 900 still has the spirit of the old DXK line, but refined in almost every way. Your bass will not be as boomy and it's presentation is way less energetic, but in a good way. I honestly felt like the D5k and D7k...- goropeza
