K550 Question!
hey, for me the best part of the k550s is the bass, and worst part was the treble. i cant listen to these headphones without eq or some felt to bring down the spikes in the highs. they dont have siblance, but they fatigue and sound very plasticy stock the bass is honestly just perfect (not...- e6600

Best Full size headphone for Gaming/Music (Rock, Heavy Metal, Grunge, etc)/Soundstage/Comfort
personally i find that more laid back headphones are more enjoyable for rock, and for long gaming sessions. i dont think theres one headphone that can fit everything you want, so you'll have to make some compromises k701s are more foward in the treble and mids, and have great soundstage for...- e6600

How much do HD 598 / DT 990 Pro / q701 bleed?
i think you'll be fine if you can find a nice spot in the library away from everyone else. ive seen people get away with blasting their iems, so i dont see why you couldnt get away with listening to open hps at moderate levels if you really, absolutely need isolation, go for a closed...- e6600

Unhappy with Game Surround Sounds on D2X and Sennheiser HD598s
try using the older xonar control panel (not the cmedia) with your unified drivers, and do a clean install of your xonar unified. use 2ch and hifi and replay that video again- e6600

Best closed headphones
from what ive read, the a900x may have better imaging and possibly soundstage im not sure if there are any better closed headphones that have better soundstage than the k550. or if there is, it'll cost a lot of money (d7000/th600/th900)- e6600

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Quote: the default asio 2.0 will be at 100% volume, so you'll need to control your volume via amp. if not, you'll need the asio 1.0 addon for the unified drivers. and the foobar asio addon (or asio support for your player). you should be able to pick asio from the output tab in foobar- e6600

Xonar DG and Dolby headphone
theres 3 different settings for dolby headphone dh1 has the most narrow soundstage, but has no reverb dh2 is the best option for games, realistic soundstage and slight reverb dh3 has tons of reverb and a very large, unrealistic soundstage. some people like it for movies, i dont use it at...- e6600

[Sound card] 5.1 or 7.1
your shures have 32ohm impedance you'll definitely need a headphone amp. running a low impedance hp out of a sound card's line out wont do your hps justice- e6600

Xonar STX FPS settings
try 6 channel and 5.1 in game turn on dolby headphone, and set to DH2 i actually get the opposite effect with dolby headphone. when its off, positional audio is really bad but sq is quite a bit better. generally i just use 2ch/hifi for non fps games, and 6ch/dh for fps games- e6600
