    Panasonic SA-RX45 receiver

Yea, it's the egg shaped remote one that doesn't work worth a damn. You can program it to open your garage door believe it or not. I've never used that feature though. It's the STR-G3, the first vision touch (without the volume control on the remote). I've had this remote for 8 years so it's...

    Panasonic SA-RX45 receiver

Thanks for all the advice guys, I think I'll probably get one when I can afford it. The receiver I have now is a Sony Vision Touch. It was one of the first a/v receivers that came out. Since it only has pro-logic and no digital jacks, it's time to upgrade.

    Panasonic SA-RX45 receiver

Just wondering if this is a good receiver or not. I'm not an audiophile so I'm really only looking for something affordable that sounds great. I listened to it over at Circuit City and I was really impressed. I like the fact that it's slim and has three optical in's. This is a full digital...

    The appeal of loudness

You have to turn up the volume for more bass, and chest compressing bass is therapeutic Forget all that new age spiritual crap, just give me some bass.

most you've spent on a single piece of gear

Pioneer Elite DV-05 DVD player - $400 (originally $1000). It's one of the few THX certified players ever made. About the only big thing it doesn't have is progressive scan. It has this legato link conversion thing that I have yet to figure out. I used to not be a Pioneer fan until I got this player.

    Favorite SNL quote or sketch?

Probably "Jamaican Surprise" because Sheri Oteri is wearing nothing but bubbles (or so it seems). I miss Oteri, she was pretty good (and hot!). I also like the Simma Down Nah ones. My favorite SNL commercial would either be the one where Stevie Wonder is taking pictures of people playing...

Today's DVD releases...my wallet is screaming!

Yea, I rented the Scarface anniversary edition this week. I finally saw it for the first time. I'm glad I got to see it in the remastered version for my first viewing. As for indiana jones, how are the special features? I've seen those movies about a million times, so the special features...

    Kill Bill Volume 1

Did anyone notice the advertisement for "Red Apples" during a driving scene in Tokyo? Remember what Butch ordered in the bar in Pulp Fiction? Something like "a pack of red apples". Does anyone know what the significance of red apples is in QT's movies? Anyway, I just saw Kill Bill...

How head-fi has changed your life....

I've learned to stay away from forums that encourage spending money to satisfy an internal need that will NEVER be satisfied I'd have to say my favorite board here is the music one, it's a great way to get some exposure to some music I normally wouldn't consider.

Who makes the best carne asada burrito?

I've never heard of Roberto's, we just don't have those out here. Carne Asada is just steak so I'd say my favorite is a tie between Mexi Fresh and Super Burrito Express. Mexi is a chain so SBE is funner to go to.

How I learned to stop worrying and love the power outage

You need to get a PCDP so you'll be prepared next time. In the newspaper they said people were able to see stars at night in NYC, something that hasn't happened in several decades. But I do wonder if the power outage went on for several days if NYC would be anything like what happened in the...

Any engineers or college folk wanna give me some advice?

Time management and organizational skills are very important. I also think it's very important to set your priorities and stick to them. Go ahead and party, but don't make it your main focus. If your college/university offers a workout center like mine did, definitely take advantage of it...
