Fair enough. I would buy them, but I do not live in the USA.

Comparisons to the Sig DJ are more than welcome.

Oh that was on Ebay long ago. They were unused, the seller won them and didn't need them.

Oh yes, now I remember. I mulled over that for days before you snapped it up. Back then it was not so popular so decided not to take the chance. Worked out for you though.

So, are the Sig DJ's built upon the Edition 9 drivers or what?

Wut, really? Damn. Thought drivers were the most expensive bit. Wonder where the extra cost of the Sig DJ's come from when the drivers used are cheap stuff.

Drivers cost 70€ each, earpads around 120€ a pair. Add a bit bling bling production and welcome to the land of ultrasone High end headphone margins.

They have Neodymium magnets, better damping and much better ear pad and headband materials. In other words they are a much more refined version of the DJ 1 not the DJ1 PRO. And somehow they are also successors of the ED 9 I think. Have them, love them, listen to them right now...........

SPL, Freq Range and Impedance are different for both DJ1 Pros and Sig DJs.
Have you opened them both up and compared?
Any sources?
I heard the DJ1 Pro a few years ago and they are DEFINITELY NOT near the level of the DJs...

I have the PRO 550 since long, they are similar to the DJ1 pro. They are nowhere near to the Signature DJ, nowhere...

Of course they aren't, the matter of cost/price remains though. Luckily there is no single closed headphone priced below that is better than the Sig. DJs so in the end the price is kinda "right".

Actually in my review of the SigDJ I failed to research enough to determine if they both shared the same drivers. However it's very possible for the same drivers to sound different just from the housing and the buffer material, etc. Have a look at the T50RPs and their various concoctions as an example.

Well, I pick mine up from the post office in a few hours; I'm hoping these to be THE revelation after all the continued hype in this entire thread. Anything less, with the knowledge of the drivers now, and I'll let these go. Will be comparing these to the T5p and Shure 1540 over the weekend.
