Should I go for the HD595s at this price?

I said the comfort is great with the 595/555, so you could well fall asleep with those. Fatiguing was because of the sound. My ears get tired when listening to metal on the 555. It's also not the hi-hats or crashes I find fatiguing, the highs are fine, it's the guitars. I feel the upper mids are...

Should I go for the HD595s at this price?

I listen to a lot of metal music myself (Epica, Opeth might be bands you listen to also). I own a HD555 and have listened to it for the past 3 years. I've always felt the need to equalize them because they lack bass impact and have a harshness in the upper mids. This makes listening to most...

Klipsch Promedia 2.1. Worth getting for music?

I own the Klipsh IFI and could get a new set for €165. The satellites that are bundled with the IFI are still being sold for about $90 a piece, the sub is worth at least double that amount, so if you can get an IFI for about $200 it would be an absolute steal. The satellites on the IFI...

Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 vs. Behringer B2031A

Well.... the question as in the title. I'm looking for some speakers to go with my budget computer setup (M-Audio Revo 5.1). The Behringer(http://www.audiomidi.com/Truth-B2031...ir--P3119.aspx) is on offer for €150,- euro's. The Wharfedale's(http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/model.php?model_id=11) are...

    Old school soundcards

I remember installing the SoundBlaster 16. First soundcard I ever heard. I fired up my favourite game and couldn't believe my ears. They were talking!!!! "Hmmmm... I'm thirsty." "I don't think you should drink that... it look bad for you."

    OMG HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!

Since I reformated my hard drive I only installed ffdshow for XVid, DivX, MPEG and WMV video and Real/Quicktime Alternative. No need for DivX, RealPlayer or Quicktime that way. Real/Quicktime Alternative come with Media Player Classic which a great no-nonsense media player. Everything has...

    Any mods for the hd555?

I'm surprised nobody responded to this. I thought this was interesting to read. Had I know what a soldering iron looks like, I would have given this a try. I'm really not going to attempt anything like this now, as i would probably mess it up pretty badly. I really like my 555's but I think...

    go-vibe questions

I'm glad I didn't waste any time ordering the V4. It was an early birthday present, and I considered waiting with ordering it. Glad I didn't. I just want to say that Norm offered excellent an product and customer service. There we're more than a couple of e-mails exchanged. Most of them...

    Prodigy 7.1LT/Maudio Revo5.1/X-fi music?

Not sure if it will work, but you could try this http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm It allows you to run VST(i)'s standalone in Windows.

AC powered amp for my hd555 phones

The Go-Vibe 4 is the cheapest option. And it sounds pretty good too. I have HD-555's and the new Go-Vibe with AD8397 op-amp. You'll be happy with that combo.

    Go-Vibe Appreciation Thread

Just received my Go-Vibe V4 an hour ago. I can't wipe the grin off of my face I have the version with AD8397 and blue LED. The amp is surprisingly light, but it still feels very sturdy. I wish the input jack had been in the back though. I'm using it on my desktop only, and with the input...

    Prodigy 7.1LT/Maudio Revo5.1/X-fi music?

Quote: I have the Revo 5.1 and I can't say I agree with any of spike's comments about it, however I've never had a chance to compare it to a higher-grade sound card. The only thing I was able to compare it to was what I came from (a SB Live! 5.1) which is really no good. I am in the...

Apheared Portable amp for Senn HD555? Can't Decide...

The AD8397 is not really suited for portable use, but that would probably sound the best for a HD555. I have the same headphones and I just ordered a Go-Vibe v4 myself. Norm said the AD8397 would be a good choice. They use a lot of power though, so your batteries won't last that long. And they...

I ordered mine aswell, but with the new AD8397 op-amp. I'll be using it for desktop only, so I don't care that it's power hungry. Can't wait for it to arrive. I'll let you know how the new op-amp sounds.

About Fraunhofer's IIS MPEG Layer-3 Audio Codec for MSACM - versions A/P

Yeah, you're right. What I said apparently only applies to the IS setting. Lame uses the MS setting by default, so you can safely use that one aswell.

About Fraunhofer's IIS MPEG Layer-3 Audio Codec for MSACM - versions A/P

I'm no expert on the matter, but I'm pretty sure Stereo is the best option. Joint Stereo modes take advantage of duplicate sound data on the left and right channels and can thus get a slightly smaller filesize. I don't think Joint Stereo modes are used very often anymore, the marginally smaller...

    Sound Card Upgrade...

Or you could buy an M-Audio Revolution 5.1. It has decent gaming support (although not as good as an Audigy or X-Fi), will do pretty good without an amp, and for music it should be between the 0404 and the Audigy2 or X-Fi.

Anyone have some experience with HD555 and/or Revo with an amp they want to share?

Soundcard upgrade for me (from vibra128 lol)

I think you mean the Hercules Fortissimo IV, which would be a good choice if you're planning to get an amp later on. I think that it will drive the headphones you have now quite well though. If you're not getting an amp, some people have reported the Live 24-bit to drive headphones nicely.

Another 'Help me find the right amp' thread

I was dissapointed with the headphone output of my new Revo 5.1 card. I thought my SB Live did a better job driving my 50 ohm HD 555's. So I need an amp for desktop use. I've been doing a lot of reading and have found some possible cadidates, but if you know some more feel free to let me know...
