Sennheiser CX 300 IEM (a personal review)
I've had the cx300's running with my ipod 4G and nano for a couple of days and I'd like to share a couple of observations, if I may. 1) They sound much better than I'd expected. The Sony ex71's were so bad that I gave them away after a week. The cx300's have much better highs and lows than...- Shakey

My Nano screen is dead. And other problems. What do do?
Quote: if i'm not mistaken, the way apple would handle a return is as good or better than going to a store. they send you a new unit and a pre-paid box to mail yours back in. they have your credit card info, so if you decide to keep both, you get charged. i'm not 100% sure this is how, but...- Shakey

Any athletes here!?
I'm 40 years old and I just started playing lacrosse again this fall (after 10 years off, a divorce and heart problems) in an indoor league in Jersey. Three weeks ago, I had the pleasure of getting my clock cleaned, taken to school and shown the door by this guy who plays professional lacrosse...- Shakey

Anyone see King Kong yet?
Jack Black definitely played his character more to the buffonish side rather than devious. Not sure if Peter Jackson wanted this from him or not. That said, I can't imagine any actor nowadays getting away with the line "beauty killed the beast." You know what they say in writing 101: if you...- Shakey

Spica TC50 Modification
Like quite a few Head-fi members, I am a happy owner of a pair of Spica TC50's and have loved their sound and affordability. As most owners know, the Spica's have a fantastic midrange, but suffer from a rolled off bass and treble response (55Hz to 17KHz according to Spica). To make things worse...- Shakey

"Output Impedance" Don't understand
Hi Tyll, Thanks for the information on impedance matching. I'm not a technical person at all so I was hoping that you could help me through this again. Basically, as per Ohm's law (V = RI), are you saying that a headphone amp makes a good preamp because it has a relatively high current...- Shakey

Holy cow! It's so great to see that there are so many of us imsomniacs out there. I thought that it was just me going slowly insane while the rest of the world slept peacefully away. Need quick clarification regarding IDE cables
Yeah, just make sure that you get the 80 conducter cables (AKA ata/133 cables - they've got blue colored pin blocks on one end). They're backwards compatible with the slower 40 conducter pin outs as well.- Shakey

Overclocking a graphics card: how much is too much?
Even without increasing voltage, upping the clock speed will generate more heat and heat kills! Just be careful about cooling. OTOH, I don't think that there have been all that many cards killed by overclocking. I mean, some cards do get killed in the line of OC'ing duty, but by and large, you...- Shakey
