My favourite h/p/a for driving Auteur are:

• Woo WA2 (RFT EZ81 ‘foil getters’, TS 5998, RFT ECC81 ‘foil getters’).
• Linear Tube Audio MZ3 ZOTL (Melz 1578 / 6N8S, RFT ECC81 ‘foil getters’).
• Woo WA6 (Brimar CV1863, Brimar CV455 KB/FB).
• Quicksilver Audio (Tungsram EL84 ‘foil getters’, TS NOS 12AX7).

Yes, Eikon Perforated Suede pads have been on Auteur (nearly) exclusively since I bought them and compared with the other 4 sets of ZMF pads I own:

Auteur perforated lambskin
Eikon perforated lambskin
Auteur perforated suede
Eikon perforated suede
Universe perforated suede

I resisted the urge to mention Travis Bickle.

It was more of a general question.
When I read about pads, the opinions were somehow a bit different and a lot was tried and then some went back to the Auteur Lambskin pads.
I thought it might have more to do with the amp than the pads.

I don't particularly like the Auteur on the SS amplifier, much rather on tube amps if I'm honest.
But it's probably a matter of taste.

I don't own any 'full tube' amps, just my tube-hybrid Liquid Platinum, so I can't comment on your personal taste

Really, I was quite happy with the Auteur perf lamb pads -- more curiosity than dissatisfaction when I picked up the suede pads -- another Auteur lover mentioned really liking the effect.

Personally, I find the pads swaps make a bigger difference than different SS amps. Might be that if I had a full tube amp I'd have a different opinion.

Similar to Johnathan, I adore my Auteur with the Woo WA2, but it was also very good with the Feliks Audio Echo… something about the 300 Ohm cans and tubes, great mix!

If I must, the Violectric V200 drives it well too- but it really cannot hold a candle to the WA2.

Oh, and I went “full bass” with Eikon lamb perfs with mine… I have spent a bit on pads and figured I’d try that before springing for Eikon suede perfs. I’m happy, so no need to change.

I have a silly question.

How does the upgrade thing look if you don't live in the Us but Europe,Asia,Africa in terms of customs clearance?

Do I have to expect customs clearance costs as a non-U.S. resident?

I know that everything is duty free if products are made in the US and sent back there.
Or should you go to your certified dealer if you bought it there for better clarification.
Theoretically I have already paid the duty once.

New baffles, New driver grille if needed, titan mesh, if you get new leather it will have the auteur classic stamp and you'll get a new owners card as well. The baffle is the main chnage it will have one port instead of 5.

It'll be shipped as a "repair" and the value marked as the actual cost paid.

Upgrades won't be available through dealers.
