Regarding the Wenge wood Auteur, did you measure the exact weight? Would be interested to know how it compares to the Teak and the Blackwood.
What components were used to listen to the HP-3?
The Woo WA-8, the new Klipsch amp, the Fiio X5 III and the Acoustic Research M2. I didn't say anything above that I didn't say to the Klipsch team. It is really pretty and a lot of fun, but it's lagging behind in technicalities for the price point.
I consider the Klipsch a conditional recommendation for people who want a fun headphone for EDM and place a high value on aesthetics.
The guys on their team are really open to feedback though and really get the hobby. As I said above, I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time before they do a killer headphone. IMHO, YMMV, etc.
Exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!I've spent some time with both, and the Klipsch does not show well in comparison to the Auteur at all. I have no doubt those guys are going to crank out a great headphone at some point, but the Heritage is miles behind the Auteur, sonically.
Exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!
I guess I need to hear both of these headphones. Not sure I'm looking for a another fun headphone. I have the TH-900 MKII's, B&W P9's, and the Denon D7200's. All of which are bass heavy, fun, closed headphones. The D7200's are probably the most balanced throughout the frequency spectrum and sound really good. But Auteur's seem like they would fit somewhere in between HD800S's and HEK's and be on par with the LCD-3's that I have based on early reviews. There's one guy in the HP-3 thread stating he likes the HP-3 more than his Utopia/HEKV2/ and other really expensive headphones, but take that with a grain of salt. He said while not technically as capable it is the most enjoyable can hes listened to
I'm kind of in the same boat. I really want 2 headphones.I guess I need to hear both of these headphones. Not sure I'm looking for a another fun headphone. @zach915m: I did not find any weight specifications for the Blackwood Auteur. I know it is a very dense wood. Could you give us an idea, please?

What woods have you tried with the Auteur?I think the Wenge is somewhere in the low 500's. It not as heavy as it might look as it's quite a porous wood. So Teak is lighter, and Blackwood is heavier.
Unfortunately no Wenge run right now, just had a few to test out, but down the line we could look into doing a run possibly!
What woods have you tried with the Auteur?
I know you’ve tried Wenge, Camphor (I think?), Padauk, Mahogany, Teak, and Blackwood.

What would you say about the bass on the Auteur? I'd like to hear them at some point for sure. Are they bass lite compared to the HP-3? Not good for EDM? Do they have a high value on aesthetics? Are they a fun headphone? Are they a killer headphone? I think I would really like to hear them!
