Yeah its either the blank stare, or the smile and nod treatment...You can just about see their thoughts, "Here he goes again talking about headphones and amps, blah blah blah...Is it lunch time yet?"

me: the frequency responce is a 'V'
friend: hmm
me: so the bass and treble is boosted
friend: ooh
me: this is normally found in headphones like the M50 and the DT770
friend: umhmm
me: also closed headphones don't normally provide as much soundstage as open headphones
friend: hmm okay
me: soundstage is like... the sound comes from around your head.... instead of being squeezed into your head!
friend: oh okay
me: hmm do you know what soundstage sounds like?
friend: i see
me: uhh.... were you hearing what i was saying?
friend: umm yeah something about bass booster right?

*facepalm*

(note it did not happen but it would be funny if it did

Person: Wow, those earbud?

Me: Yeah, why?

Person: What's the 4 on them stand for?

Me: (takes the easy way out) 4 drivers in each.

Person: Oh, so they must have a lot of bass (pronounces it like the fish)

Me: What?

Person: Bass. Baaaasss.

Me: No thanks, already had sushi for lunch.

Just wore some super.fi to the shops, and everybody was looking at me like i was from Mars.

and i liked it

All joking aside, should I get some new Sony armature IEMs? And if so, which model?

the xba 3 has the best value alongside the xba 1 from what i auditioned and heard around. which models do your budget allow too?

I've got to get back to the BBs around where I live. Maybe they actually have some decent stuff now. Plus, I never did go into the home theater area, just the spot where they had all the headphones. Maybe this coming summer I'll take a walk to the closest one. It's quite a walk (probably over half an hour at my usual pace), but it'd be good just to actually have somewhere to go instead of just aimlessly wandering around the neighborhood and scaring the daylights out of weird people who apparently think I'm going to murder them just because I'm out after 10 in the evening and I happen to be splay-footed so I walk funny (true story).

Anyway, you know you're an audiophile when you'd rather bake alive during the summer than have a noisy fan or air conditioner running and ruining your music.

I beg to differ as I have the sweaty M50s.

Oh yes the 6 hour drive back from Spokane for Regionals in 100 degree weather didn't go well with K272s either. My ears were wet.

I've never had that problem. For some reason pleather circumaurals don't seem to make me sweat. I've walked around in near-100 degree weather and nothing.

You know you're an audiophile when, damn it all, you're going to get the best sound you can while walking around in the heat, even if your ears get a little toasty.
