Don't like the look of the X3plus. One of the things I really like about the X3 is the ability to navigate without having to look at a screen or wheel,
X3plus removes that from the looks of it.

Could be worse, we could have bought an A&K Jr for $500 and have them flat out say they're not going to upgrade FW and be stuck with it.

I'm happy with my X3, limitations and all.

I also like the simplicity and sound quality of Xduoo x3. Actually I only need 5 buttons, volume up and down, next and previous track, pause/play. I hope the x3plus has those 5 physical buttons.

Maybe I should get an Xduoo X3 instead of Fiio X1. If I do that maybe I would get a huge shock since it my first DAP and I am coming from android which has great UI. Still regret my decision.

More than maybe.
Certainly.

A Texas Instruments PCM5142 Dac (X1) or a Cirrus Logic CS4938 Dac (X3), this is your choice.

Sound quality of X3 is amazing for the price!

But the UI of Xduoo X3 is too basic and it doesn't even have album art view. It will give me a complete shock since I'm coming from android.

But I will definitely get a new one in 2018

I bought the Xduoo X3 last week.
To be honest i didn't expect any fw support for the price (less than 100$ on ebay) .
The specs are awesome for the price (same dac as fiio x3 , good sound quality , great built and 2x microsd slots).
The fact that it mainly sells on ebay and massdrop , means that most of the future owners are informed and aware of the highs and lows of the product.

If i want more features , i will look elsewhere ...
I please note it's note a support for updating the player to have more features or a better UI we were only referring to the an update which doesn't do anything but fix this major (minor to some folks though) bugs.

Yes, they're not going to fix the x3 problems. But release a x3plus instead.

No idea. But it has AK4490 dac chip and also good amps. It also has much better look. Xduoo is testing it now.

Where did you see this?
Is there a dedicated thread for this device?

No question that they've been penny wise and pound foolish.  Earlier I only recommended the xDuoo X3 if Rockboxed if you were sensitive to pitch errors.  These days I'm not so free with my recommendations.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm happy with mine and use it for out and about.  I still much prefer my desktop > foobar2000 > Modi 2 > G1217 Polaris > Senn HD580 or 600.   My poiint here is that I doubt very much that xDuoo will see any future business from me given how they've handled the whole firmware fiasco.   tony@xDuoo are you listening?

Apologies to all for drifting off-topic...

Hello Bob,

I've noticed what seems to be a favourite set-up for you while listening your music digital files
my desktop > foobar2000 > Modi 2 > G1217 Polaris > Senn HD580 or 600
. As the Modi 2 USB DAC is relying on the PC USB 5V supply (like many DACs of this type) the 'electrical noise' introduced by such a power feed system is producing unwanted audio artefacts further down the line. Are you using, by any chance, an USB Isolator ...? If not you may consider adding this item to your already quality set-up as the improvement could be quite rewarding.

Some examples of cheaper USB Isolators:

(or if one is not shy with DIY) https://is.gd/0QQNGd ... in this case the addition of a high quality 5V PSU would bring significant audio improvement... The PSU (either internal or standalone) is key to the performance delivery of any audio set-up.

Keep well, Bob... :)

Your right, but i like more warm sounding IEMs :) They are just lovely! But the next one that i buy will be the Dunu DN-1000 which is balanced... but should still have good natural bass, right ? I'm totally convinced that Dunu builds very good IEMS with excellent build quality that can handle a lot of heavy daily use. I do exactly that and the tridents are just robust as hell! They play and play so i go for the DUNU's! :)

Not sure if you bought the Dunu Dn1000 but they are a great match with the X3. If you like a warmer sound but with great resolution and with accurate but not fatiguing treble... go for it!

I tried my X3 with the following headphones, in order of personal preference: Balanced re400 (a little less mids than when coupled with his natural partner, the Hifiman HM700, but overall a slightly better sound), Havi B3 Pro1 (very good soundstage, even though the hype made me hope for an even better one, slightly fatiguing on mids-high, but they are new and getting better hour by hour), wooden Bette 10mm (great tight bass, good all-around sound. I just am not so much into a bass oriented signature).
I believe that the DN1000 may be even better!

Sacrebleau, what have they done to the beautiful X3 design

Similar design + better chip + software that doesn't give you aids = profit. Is that so hard for manufacturers to get these days? -_-
