xDuoo X2 - small lossless player with microSD and OLED!

Just caved and ordered an xDuoo X2. Such good reviews, combined with form factor and price... I keep telling myself I'm serious about sound: I play a number of instruments and invested in a decent recording setup and mics. However, on the portable music playing front I'm lacking the goods to back it up..  KZ Ate's are on order and I'm really trying to justify to myself ordering the ED4's too (just a few $$$'s I know, but times are tight over here ;) ! ) It usually takes at least 2 months from AE to Brazil, and then there's the off chance of customs holdup.... Oh boy, going to be a long wait !

I have the usual Hi-Fi low budget setup that I wear walking around the city. It passes the time well and makes travel easier. A Rockboxed  Sandisk/Sansa Clip Zip and a pair of Altone200 buds plus 40GB of FLAC songs on a 64GB Ultra MSD card. Setup right it sounds darn good. Good but not fantastic. It could use some more punch in the low end. Just a bit.

I too am waiting, and waiting, for a new X2 to arrive. I hope it will sound as good as my Zip but with more bass. I really hope the next firmware, v8, has Replaygain as well. Listening to a bunch of songs off various CDs without Replaygain can make you go deaf. Seriously.

We shall see.

So my x2 arrived from happyeasy03 this we even though mt dispute said i wanted a refund. aliexpress disputes are slow and annoying i have 2 on the go i think my aliexpress days are over. Anyway its come with a damaged box and scratched up screen! I didn't want the bloody thing from them in the first place because i ordered elsewhere!

Ordered on Halloween but because they resent the item against my wishes i had to wait another 42 days. Thats 3 months from the order day to receive a refund its absolutely appalling service from both the seller and aliexpress.

Yes it comes with a screen protector out of the box, you should find this will come off leaving you a nice clean screen.

Epic fail! sorry guys i did try the screen for a film but couldn't feel it and then when i compared it to the other 2 that came yesterday the looked clean of scratches i though it was the screen.

I'll get my coat!

Are there any X1 comparisons anywhere within this thread?

Sorry i meant Fiio X1

Sorry i meant Fiio X1

That is an unfair comparison, as the Fiio X1 is around double the price of the Xduoo X2. Compare players that are similar in price. Compare the Xduoo X2 to the Fiio M3, and the Xduoo x3 to the Fiio X1.

Isn't the xDuoo X2 still much more powerful amp section compared to the Fiio M3? So still a pretty unfair comparison for the M3 besides the price being the same. They are much different players altogether only sharing a price bracket together. M3 has built-in memory and a puny amp meant for low impedance headphones while xDuoo X2 has no built in memory and a very powerful amp section.

Sorry the X2 is far away from a powerful amp section. The marketing specifications with 250 mW @ 32 ohms are absolute wrong.

In this complete independent reviews, both reviewers measured complete different values, instead of 250 mW @ 32 ohm in real world the X2 has around 39 mW @ 32 Ohm... It would be okay to have maybe only 240 mW in real world or so, but lol not only 39 mW instead of 250 mW, which are 211 mW difference, thats massive. In the 2nd review the M3 was measured too and this specifications are 100% correct with 30 mW @ 32 Ohm...

38 mW @ 32 Ohm: http://headphoniaks.com/blog/xduoo-x2-reproductor-sansa-clip-killer/2/
40 mW @ 30 Ohm: http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-125-9627.html

Well ****...if that's true, then both of these DAPs are ****ty weak budget toys. Thanks for the info. I'll have to do my own measurements on my own X2.

Dec 20, 2015 at 5:58 AM Post #1,439 of 2,091
my measurements gave me this into 100ohm:

fiio X1: 1.468V
xduoo X2: 1.108V
sony A15: 0.316v (EU version) <= now that's what you call a ****** weak budget toy ^_^. the max loudness is a good 10db quieter than the X2.
but TBH it's still loud enough for me to use with my IEMs and max loudness would be way too loud for comfortable listening.

the X2 with 38mw can still drive portable headphones such as nad hp50, momentum, or PM3 louder than 115db. just because desktop amps have gotten us used to ludicrous power output numbers of several watts, it doesn't mean we actually need those numbers.  my hd650 is fine with about 50mw @300ohm to give a more realistic idea of common power needs for non portable gears. while those DAPs fail to provide this into 300ohm(and we never expected them to), you see that it's not some crazy value.

I have a little problem with the german review concerning the impedance. they're way to low IMO.
I measured my clip (at 400hz) around 1ohm. (ok it's not a clip zip that I measured but a clip).
then the Xduoo I got 0.76ohm, headphoniaks found 0.65ohm, but they measured 0.12ohm???? the bartsky guy seems to have troubles doing that measurement.

They are much different players altogether only sharing a price bracket together. M3 has built-in memory and a puny amp meant for low impedance headphones while xDuoo X2 has no built in memory and a very powerful amp section.

The amp on the M3 isn't puny. It can achieve much higher volumes than players such as the Clip+, Clip Zip, and Sony A17. Of course it doesn't have as much power as the Fiio X1 or Xduoo X2. That extra power doesn't matter so much though unless you are using higher impedance less efficient headphones. If you plan to use a headphone of 100 ohms or less and at least 96 db/mw, then the M3 will probably power it just fine. If you plan to use 250 or 300 ohm headphones though, the Xduoo X2 might be able to power it decently. So many people are now using IEMs between 16 and 32 ohms and over 100 db/mw, or headphones 60 ohms or less and at least 96 db/mw. The M3 has a larger screen than the Xduoo X2, and also much longer battery life. The M3 gets 24 hours vs around 10 hours for the X2.  The M3 has database browsing(although for now it doesn't sort properly by track number. This will be fixed with firmware updates) The Xduoo X2 seems to only navigate by folders. The Xduoo X2 has a metal case, while the M3 is plastic.

The Xduoo X3 vs the Fiio X1 seems like a very interesting contest. On the one hand the Xduoo X3 has two card slots, while the Fiio X1 has just one. Both have a metal case. The X1 has a much more refined firmware, although it has been out longer. Weight is similar for them. The Fiio X1 has longer battery life, however the difference probably isn't that huge( perhaps just 25% or so, and not the more than double the M3 achieves vs the Xduoo X2).
