Ok, just to make it less subjective, and more measurable: I have just played both players turned to max to the Audacity line in. X1 was measured on hp out, and the Audacity's line meter clearly shows that the signal from X1 is higher than X2. I suggest everybody to try that. I might post, for those interested, the screenshots.
I don't know what to tell you mate. My X2 is one of the earlier version so it's possible that the one I have is slightly different. When I bought one from the first batch it came in as a DOA (worked for 10 mins and died), I then sent it back to Penon who got a brand new one sent to me; according to them it was the first one off the conveyor from the second revise batch to fix the dying issue. I think they switched out some caps. But I'm not sure on that.
Looking at the serial numbers of those in the photo has me wondering how many of these were made. More than 900,000? I doubt it. Anyone here have any idea about how many were made?
Mine is 710522 - so at least 200,000?
I have two more that if not here tomorrow will be here in a few days. Different seller so I'll see what number they are.
First revision didn't have a serial number, neither did the second batch of the first revision.
You mean no serial number printed on the back of the player. They still have serial numbers.
Yep, nothing on the back, and from what I remember nothing on the PCB either.
