Worst headphone I've ever heard is the one playing regaetton
A good torture: tie you up and put those headphones on  (and even worse if they are closed back with the best isolation).

The worst headphones for me were the Beyer T 1.3, not exactly for the sound they produce because I found some genres that shined with their weird signature, just because they were extremely uncomfortable for me.

I won't say worst, but I really didn't care for the new Beyer T5's. Huge bass, OK mids and no treble.

I doubt that there has ever been a bigger sound change within one model than the one Beyer performed with T5p.2's to T5 Gen.3's.

Decades ago, had a pair of Audio Technica ATH-4 that were stunningly poor.
Also had a pair of "Pickering PH-4955" with "separate woofers and tweeters" in each cup - YIKES!
All those 70's Pioneer and Sansui closed plastic headphones were absolute muffle cannons.

I get a good laugh at those who buy the Vintage 70's integrated amps, and then "swear" by the 'headphone jack sound' in them.
Headphones were "not a thing" back then, and the manufacturers were NOT investing in quality electronics to lurk behind the headphone output jacks!!

Zana Deux pretty much saves the 800. I just hate 800 with majority of solid-states. I'd rather listen to the 6 series than 800 out of those setups.

Agreed-the only exception for me was the BHA-1...surprisingly a very good ss match for the HD800, although it doesn't blunt it's clinical nature, or warm it up any. Go figure. But yes I'd argue nobody's heard an HD800 til they hear it on a ZDSE...even my "current" Studio B can't make that claim.

BHA-1 is definitely an odd one. It actually puts out bass (for Sennheisers) for a ss, and it actually has characteristics of quality tube amp sound. A bit of a push on the upper-mids however.

As for the reasonable pricing offers, the other solid-states I found fine was a Jotunheim. Not so transparent, but not so sterile like majority of ss. Even DAVE headphone out sucks. Not acceptable at nearly $12k price tag!

Worst: HD800 into an OG Mojnir/Gungnir

Best: HD800 into a ZDSE
I can see the Mojnir OG not being good with the 800. However the Gungnir 1 w/ MB chip?. That is a great match I heard for myself.
