I've been waiting for the final product to be announced ever since seeing the prototype appear on the Woo site so long ago. Great work, guys!

What is the price? I am confused between 10,000$ vs 16,000$
We are lucky that there will be one demo unit at Munkong in Thailand and we
may have chance to audit this amplifier again. There should be a minimeeting again.
It will be a tube lover dream for tube rolling :
300B : I will bring vintage 1950 or 1960 WE300B, STC 4300A and other 300B equivalent
2A3 : Hope somebody will bring monoplate RCA or Fivre 2A3
Lots of 6SN7s, Wonder that it would accept ECC32, ECC33, 6SL7, 6F8G or others
I also have WE274B for the rectifier
Are we allowed to try something there?

There are lots of headphone there : JPS Abyss, HE6 , LCD3 I may bring AKG K1000, Sony MDR R10
bass light (last time it was R10 bass heavy) , Sony Qualia R010, L3000 , Grado PS1, HP1000 (probably
for the 2A3, 45 setup)

Monoblocks for headphones? Why not! Doc from Bottlehead powered a pair of AKG 1000s with two Paramount 300Bs...

BTW, if you can put 15k on a pair of monoblocks, you can surely afford a good preamp :) What puzzles me is that the pictures on Woo Audio website show that the inputs on the back on the monos are either one XLR or two single ended red and white RCA... (maybe simply 3 inputs?)

Absolutely! I do know 'Happy Camper'; 'Clayton SF'; (myself) and a few others are having this dance...

WIthout the intention to troll - after some consideration I am wondering how the costs/selling price of these things break down.

You're paying for a.) a pair of beautiful chassis b.) a very intelligent system allowing you to use all sorts of tubes in virtually any combination c.) the circuitry to go with (b) d.) an additional attenuator e.) two speaker driver stages f.) an additional power cord. Oh, and a pair of mono amplifiers for headphones.

IMO, (a) and (e) I can only call nice bonuses, whereas the others are there to cater for the rather innovative system (which is of limited interest if you don't have or plan to have lots of tubes) and to deal with the fact that it's actually two separate amps. And I really wonder how much of the r&d goes into allowing it to use all those tubes compared to making a better amplifier. If they have arrived at a properly good amp in its own rights AND get that cool system working then I think they've made something very special. If not, they've made some very handsome amps indeed.

Munkong said on their fb page that the pair is slightly less than 600,000 THB. That's about 18.75k USD. But then we have import duties and all sorts of crap. I'd expect the US price is closer to 15-16k. May be more/less depending on how wild you're going with your glassware.

I thinm for what it is, $10K is a sound asking price. Considering its not just a monoblock headphone amp, but its also a monoblock speaker amp. The tube rolling is a VERY cool addition.

Not sure why it appears everyone is going round-and-round over the once estimated price... and
tongue_smile.gif
not the "Buy-it-now" price!

I'm not sure why people are taking issue with the price of the monos. I don't believe Woo's prices are out of the ordinary for their other products, so why do people assume that Woo have created some "get rich quick" scheme? If you want a pair just cough up the coin, otherwise you can make your own if you are so sure that it can be done exactly the same for less.
