Nov 26, 2010 at 12:02 PM Post #77 of 152
I decided to just go for it and buy the 601 and RE-Zero now. I hope it's in stock in their New York location so I can get it the next day after they ship it as I'm less than 20 minutes away from their NY location.

I bought via the Head Direct site with PayPal without having a PayPal account at all ... just had to type in my credit card credentials.

What 16bit formats are supported by the 601 player? Does it present itself as mass storage via USB and you just drag media onto it?

Yup.  The 60x series will show up as two drives on a Windows machine for internal flash and external cards.  I haven't dropped to the external card via the player so no idea how fast that would be.  I prefer an external reader for speed usually.  Wav, Mp3, Flac plus 24/48, 24/96 and 24/88 depending if you're lucky.

You won't have to worry too much about transferring as 2GB won't fill much up ;p

No AAC? Some of my collection is in Apple Lossless which I can easily transcode to FLAC, but a bunch of it is in 320k AAC files. I'd hate to re-transcode lossy files.

Outside of apple players those formats are not really used so I'd say time to start transcoding your apple lossless to flac

As per my above I know I have to transcode my ALAC to FLAC, but I'm wondering about the AAC 320k files. Most players can play the AAC .mp4 files, I'm just trying to figure out if the 601 is one of them.
