Finding my self in a fairly empty shop the other day with no-one looking I plucked up courage to have a crafty listen to a pair of Beats again (Solo2)

Initial impression it didn't sound truly awful....Although with only one side working it was difficult to make a proper judgement. That's about half a dozen times I've tried these phone and the second or third time that they have had a broken driver.

Cheap and nasty albeit reassuringly expensive ;-) tat for the unilaterally deaf.

As for the Studio 2 just how good is a headphone that is being sold at half price on Amazon and is still getting plenty of 1star reviews due to build failure

Abbey Road should sue the blighters

While the build quality isn't exactly stellar, amazon comments aren't the best source of objective information on Beats because there are lots of fakes on amazon (sold by third parties)

Everyone should have a beats set in a glass case

If it wasn't for beats fever, i wouldn't have been able to wear over ears on the train without being ridiculed

I never heard beats or had to urge to pick one up.

But they did change the game.

Apple could easily just make a fantastic driver and slowly squeeze the necks of smaller names out of business.

Curious how it will play out, Beats is here for the long run

It's very obvious they're a fashion/status accessory for the fashionista, 20 something set.

Pushed by that degenerate "Doctor Dre" and his equally sleazy associate lebron james.

Fortunately, there is a super inexpensive alternative in the Koss UR42i. A fraction of the price, closed back and comes in tasteful colors. I haven't listened to them, but they certainly couldn't sound any worse than beats.

If they are only as good as a PortaPro
They will beat a Beats.

Look great value from a proper headphone company that I first experienced over 40years ago.

I don't know why this happens, but lots of people have very strong opinions about something they have zero experience with, tend to talk about Beats as if they make only one headphone(how about saying that sennheiser are crap because you tested or heard of others testing the HD201)

You should first test the Studio 2/Wireless and then form an opinion about them.

In my opinion Studio 2 are better than M50x and MDR-1A - which I tested several times (Studio 2 are more detailed, have better instrument separation, better soundstage).

Have you tested the Studio 2(NOT the Solo 2)? Do that with some quality tracks then come back and tell us your opinion.

The Studio 2.0 has better active noise isolation than the Solo2's, but the latter has better passive noise isolation, a less colored sound signature and less NC noise because it is either fully passive (good as a backup if the battery's flat, I've been there with the Studio 2.0's) or just wireless over Bluetooth. I like the Studio 2.0's for their over-ear comfort and ANC, but prefer the Solo2 for the sound and "compactness". They are both great headphones in their own regard. Of course there are many objectively better headphones out there for the price/less, but Beats nowadays are by no means bad, even by audiophile standards

If the Solo3 borrowed the more symmectical design of the Studio 2.0's and incorporated Lightning for charging and syncing (like the Beats Pill+ did, strange that the Solo3 didn't), then I'd have gotten it too!

Studio 2 had great bass and isolation, highs were just plain awful

Have you tested them? What do you find wrong with the highs? No, Studio 2 don't have great bass. That's Studio 1.

Well at least it had SOME highs to go with da bass

Have you tested them eventually?

my Focal Utopias sound horrible if you only listen to one ear.

Testing doesn't really matter if your opinion is predisposed does it?
