How do you know what Beats uses? There was a pathetic attempt by some idiot blogger to prove that they use cheap parts, but it turned out he had used a fake pair.

Not that using OEM drivers is something necessarily bad.

Why do you keep having strong opinions about something you have never tested? WHY, WHY, WHY?

WHY don't you go to a store and TEST a pair of Studio 2? There are huge chances you'll be totally surprised!

Besides, many of you who like to bash Beats, keep repeating a false price: 300 usd. No, that's NOT the real price you'll find in most stores, but the recommended price that you probably won't find in many places other than Apple stores. You can find them regularly at less than $200, often below 170 usd/eur (depending on where you live)

What I don't understand is if they are that great, and millions upon millions of people undoubtedly want them. why are they discounted. I'm sure they'd sell at full rrp to their legion of fans!

In fact being able to boast how much they cost would have added kudos. 'Celebrities' don't want cheap

What are you trying to say? I have already heard the studio 2, my listening impressions were too short to judge it fairly. All I know is I took them off after 20 seconds of listening because I did not like them.... If you think it must be because I'm biased, take a look at some of my favorite headphones which you might have never heard yourself and compare them against beats purely on sound signature

Wow, the amount of projection, elitism and just plain whining is amazing. Keep it up!

Not sure if you're referring to the pro or premium, but either way yes yes the comfort.

440s can easily be improved by the 990v pads

I dont know wht material the earpads of 440s are but no goood (relatively speaking)

440s + 990v = decent set of airy and relatively non fatiguing cans (and not that far off in sound from the 990 250ohm anyway, though i think 990s overall slightly better) , and probably better than beats (to keep in line with this thread) lol

Yes I used the 990 pads myself but I found only the black variety preserved the (wonderful) sound. The silvers give plenty of bass but dull the highs. The original pads in Jersey Cloth are awful; itchy and quickly deteriorate

PS don't worry about keeping on thread there are better things than Beats to talk about ;-)

I also agree but they are not that bad. As said earlier in this thread, Beats are for
the people who want the branding, fashion statement, and attention. I find this okay
so i would say that the beats not good and not bad.

Nice to finally find cans which can compete with the Beats Pro down low. Definitely basshead worthy and a bag of chips.

Hmmm...guess we hear differently. I felt the bass was well-controlled...could use some more mid and treble. Overall, a warm but not offensive signature to my ears...

A great-sounding pair, can't wait to get mine (and my WM1A walkman)

Well the deals thread posted the HiFiMan Edition S for $149...excellent deal with pricing good thru 11/28.

Portable, Open or Closed, 50mm drivers with solid bass and excellent clarity but not harsh...outstanding value. In addition, they have headset capability with great call clarity in both directions.

These will replace my V-Moda M80's in my computer backpack as my go-to daily portables. If you have this type of use case, I'd highly recommend considering.

Amazing what a company can do when they focus their efforts on providing superior value and functionality. Am hoping that Apple/Beats sees these types of opportunities as a challenge and focuses their considerable talents and $$$ on them.

I got one and they definitely do have the bass quantity that even the beats kind of scene will enjoy when the earcups are opened. Not the tightest bass when opened though. I think they are a pretty good headphone for the price right now but I do not think they are a steal or anything

If they weren't portables that are open/closed with a mic, I'd tend to agree on your value prop assessment. However, for what they do, I find them a solid bargain.

TBH, really wasn't expecting them to compete with my non-portable open cans in the same price range...different application. That said, I'm thinking I'd still swap them out for the M80s even if they didn't have the functionality advantage.
