All,

I sit behind a desk all day writing code and I'm tired of these iPod earbuds and their terrible quality, so I'm making the financial investment of a good pair of headphones.

Requirements:
  1. Good sound quality (duh)
  2. Comfy! - I will have these babys on for eight hours a day.
  3. Durable - They're going to come home with me every day so they need to withstand the trip
  4. Over ear (sorry Grado!)
  5. Sub-$200, the cheaper the better of course!

Thanks in advance,
James

Ah, I guess that would help wouldn't it!

Well, to be honest, I listen to everything. I do find myself listening more to Indie/Acoustic, but also House/Trance. I'd say about an even 40/40 split between those two depending on the day of the week, with the other 20% going to everything else (except for country- eek!).

Grado

in all seriousness, Grado would be best because they stay on your head.

But, I would say MDR-V6 but then you need a amp for them.

Go for Shure 840 because they can handle most genres, go unamped, around ear and comfy

Senn would fall off your head too much for work, Grado would be great because they hold on nicely

M50 is another choice if you like more bass

I'd recommend the SRH840, but they may not be comfortable for all people. That, or the M50 (which have a more clamped fit than the SRH840, but still comfortable).

If you get the SRH840 I recommend the velour earpads of the SRH940 for them.
