what is your portable rig/system?

Here are my portable setups for different activities (I don't currently own a headphone amp):

Commuting:
Panasonic SL-CT470 plus one of the following:

Grado SR-60, Grado SR-80, Sennheiser MX 500, Sony MDR-E888LP, Sony MDR-EX70LP OR Sony MDR-V6

Exercising:
Sony D-EJ721 plus one of the following:

Koss KSC-50, Koss Porta Pro OR cheap, crappy Sony "Sports" vertical in-ears (MDR-A30G)

At the moment a JVC XM-R70 MD-Player with Sony 7506 or Grado SR-60 headphones. The JVC sounds significantly better than a Sony MZ-R700 I borrowed from a friend, but is to be replaced with a Sony MZ-R50 and self built DIY amp (OPA2134->BUF634,2x9V) I'm planning to assemble.

I also recently bought a Denon DCP-100 PCD, which has a fantastic sound (the MD-Players are no match at all), but is so bulky that it can rather be used for travel or at work. It doesn't even need an extra amp to drive Sennheisers, but I'm curious if my amp with input from the line out improves the sound even more.

How do you find the Grados with their open construction
when out and about?

I am using dt931s in my rig and they have me scuttling about
to find the quiet spots!

One thought do people out there with nice rigs like this with all
their attendent diy/mods and tender loving care...................
get paraniod about taking them outside..what with potential
for mugging etc,after all when you take money out of the
equation its the time!![plus mental anguish]

I dont live in a city like that, so no I dont worry at all. Besides, I'm 6' tall, 185lbs, and I have boxing gear at home I use as a workout thing. In other words, I can hit really hard

The Grado is fine for portable use, as long as you arent stationary in a group of people (riding a bus, subway, etc.) Or if you kept the volume way down it would probably be alright there too. But I use mine for work, and leaking sound isnt a problem. If it IS a problem at work I refer them to the fact that I can hit really hard.

whoa...alot of ppl has the ETY ER4's and a md player// dayam, as a highschool student. i cant afford a ~$300 headphone. but i hope its worth every penny of it.... i can only afford the koss ksc-35 and v6..(ooohhh well they still *sounds* good)

or (quite often at the moment!)
Iriver2 CD/MP3 player with 888's

At home mooching about the house the above but with

Etymotic ER4 with custom earmoulds.

the combo i use the most is the d-777 + v6. very hard to beat for portability & sound.

i don't think i'll be able to resist those new etymotic research plugs for long...
