Super confident sporty types everywhere!!!

What about the unfit recreational drinking couch slobs out there?

Oh I forgot... Head-fi doesn,t attract those sort of people.

In that case I had better go and finish my pint..No I mean...my
500 bench presses.

Well, here's my hifi portable system, which I currently use all the time, but that may be changing...

Panasonic CT780
JMT-built cmoy in a Penguin Mint Tin
Ety ER4S
All in a Headroom Airbag

Here's the system I'll probably have soon, just to grab for active/short trips when I don't want to carry around a whole bag and worry about insertion of the Etys and stuff

Sony MZ-R50
Sony E888s

I had the R900 at one point, and sold it and all my MD stuff, not sure why, but I did. I'm much happier overall with my current cd-based portable system, but if I can get a R50 in decent shape for under $75 then add some 888s I think I'll have the best of both worlds... and the R50 is just cool with the rectangular form factor and true jog dial. w00t!

Jan Meier should make a larger Porta-Corda, calling it the SortaPorta-Corda. A less expensive version- AffordaSortaPorta-Corda.. adding the low profile option gets you a ShortaSortaAffordaPorta-Corda(special Orda.) Ok, I'm done now.

I have three portable rigs, each for a different use:

1.

SL-CT470
MDR-EX70LP

2.

SL-CT470
KSC-35

3.

SL-CT470
Total Airhead
DT831

I am trying to modify my SR-60's to make them a LOT more portible, to give me another system:

SL-CT470
SR-60

But I have soooo many mods to do before I can do that!

Some pics of my portable gear.

Headphones

Grado SR325:used mostly with Grado amp
Grado SR80:used with all the portable amps
Koss KSC-50:sounds really good with the Porta-Corda

Amps:

Grado RA-1:Hands down the best portable, and I heard them all this past weekend.I own a TA and the rest of the amps you see here,The Grado is it.

Porta-Corda:Nice fat bass and quality build.I hate the volume/on-off switch.

JMT:just got it yesterday. So far no disappointments.Has nice even sound.

sources:

Panasonic SL-S261C CDP:this is 6 years old and is the best sounding portable I have heard.Has a line out that defeats the bass boost and volume control.lacks ANY modern features but who cares?

Sony D-FJ61 CDP and am/fm tuner:when I'm on the move and need skip protection this does a good job.Sound quality is not the best but will play just about any CD,including scratched ones none of my other players will play, home, portable or mobile.

Sony SRF-M35 am/fm tuner:this is an amazing piece of engineering. It will pick up all the stations I listen to as well as the tuners in all my cars.Only my old Fisher 400 tube receiver can do this at home.

I use different set-ups depending on which of my jobs I'm working. When I gotta take public trans it's the Koss,Sony CDP and Porta-Corda.When I'm at job site sitting down it's the Panasonic with the Grado amp and phones.

artmusic247, I spent some time recently examining your rig and it is quite spectacular. It is easily the finest portable system I've ever seen. If you ever have the urge to build another one, like say, for me...., you could just about name your price!

HeadRoom Traveler bag
HeadRoom Cosmic
Sony D-EJ01, D-25S, or MZ-R50
