That's why it's hard for me to tell what's sarcasm and what's not unless it's very obvious like the quote above.

Which part of Malaysia are you from? Sarcasm is practically the lingua franca in Kuching. Or at my old high school anyway...

Now, whose leg is being pulled by whom? I think Benaiir is being serious about liking Bose. I can't place freckling...but I'm guessing he's being serious too. Fitz is being his usual loveable self.

I'm with fraseyboy and the rest of the gang, obviously. Well...maybe. Bose headphones aren't bad, if you're looking for comfie and fun cans. Plus, some of their stuff isolate sound really well. But oh, the price! And oh, the lack of accurate detail!

Edit: Factual error removed. My bad.

Hello Benair and others,
This might have been a lot more productive if it would not have been so general. What real advice can come from this?
1. First off all your title should have mentioned what bose you want compared to x headphones? different models are more important then just a brands name...
2. What kind of headphone are you looking for? open/closed? What do you want to use it for? do you need it for on the go at home, at school etc etc.
3. What source will you be using? Will you be using an ipod, computer, computer with good soundcard, cd-player.
4. Are you planning on buying an amp? For example I would never buy an akg k701 without good amplification to back it up, that would just be a waste of money.
5. What music do you listen to and in what quality?
6. What sound signature do you want from a headphone? Do you want wide soundstage? Big bass? etc. etc etc.
Honestly this thread is making no sense/is not productive the way it is now.
Greetings, Anouk,

Honestly, the koss ksc-75 for $20 is better. I've tried a bunch, although not the triports and I can confidently say, they sounded very thin and the most important part, not good. If you honestly think Bose is the best without trying anything else, fine, just keep buying their products. It's your loss champ. I actually like to buy products because they're good, not because they have a "reputable" name.

Miri! Woot! Sarawak-Fi! Hey, do you know Han Hsien? Lol, questions like that crack me up. "So, you're from China. Do you know Yang?"

Ok ok, focus focus.

@ Anouk: Noble as your intentions are, I think this thread is doomed to degenerate into, well, this. Lol. It's weird. We're all up for over-priced Apple products, Moleskines, and...cables, maybe. But when it comes to Bose, all teeth are bared. Crazy people, we are.

More seriously, I think the question is answerable, general though it is. Which manufacturer produces headphones better than Bose? Sennheiser, Grado, AKG, Stax, Denon, Alessandro, Beyerdynamic, Audio Technica... Sure, the answer is trivial; but so is the question!

More seriously still: Bose cans aren't bad. They really aren't. I'd love a pair of those in-ear thingees they make. Oh, so comfie! But the prices are crazy. And much better (usually, more...refined, less congested) sound can be had for much cheaper, with little compromise to the perks that come with Bose (e.g., comfort).

At least Bose does comfort right..

And I think the anti-fanboyism / hatred is getting way overblown.
Sure, Bose doesn't sound nearly as good as other headphones in it's price range, but they are a rather large and developed company, and they aren't completely ignorant of the sound quality of their products.
They're just more marketed towards the mainstream market where bass is synonymous with good sound, and where it's important to get decent sound from 'regular' ipod sources and low-bitrate mp3's.

I have no reason to buy triports, but I would still prefer them to any other $60 headphones, including the ksc75's, px100, porta's, sr60's.. well, maybe not the sr60's, but you get my jist.

What's worse than Bose?? the biggest lie and rip-off in the audio industry. A few months back I was working in a music festival in Manila. I did not see AKG, Grado, Audio-Tech, Dennon, Sennheiser, Beyer, Stax, NOTHING... but Bose.... they are great at marketing, and cheating people off their money. Really,... I think their products are generally priced at least 60% more than their actual value. Bad bad, BAD!Sure they are comfortable, but there are a lot of very comfortable phones out there as well... the comfort factor is still not worth the extra $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in my opinion.

First of all, OP, are you going to use them on the go or for home-enjoyment?
Plays a big role..
Sorry if i missed something that's already been addressed between all the commotion over something that starts with the letter B and is amplified with another letter in that word called S...

I was being sarcastic, and perhaps a little facetious as well. Either that or people aren't able to comprehend how ridiculous my previous statements were. Oh well.

You see this is an example of why Bose's deceptive image of "better sound through research" is being perpetuated. There are people who just don't know any better, because they don't know what's out there. To the OP, seriously man, get yourself a real set of cans. I know that to your ears at the moment, you think Bose "sound good," but once you hear other cans that cost around the same price and sound 5 times as good, you'll then understand. I'm sure eventually you'll be in the same boat as all the other head-fi'ers here who really dislike Bose.

To me, Bose is nothing more than a joke.

Yes i agree. Triports sound reaaaally hollow and boxy. Dry and distortioned bass mixed with some sizzle. Ugh..
If looking for portable, try AT es7's, Senn HD25-1's or something.. The senns work as good all-rounders too. Will have experience of the es7's soon..
If something for a home setup, the $200 deal on 701s wasn't that bad..

-K

Canalphones and IEM's with soft tips do the job far better in noise isolation and sounds far better at any price range + more portable + comfort is fine.
