I'm looking for a pair of portable cans that are closed.  But I want something that is $200 or less in the catagory.  I've heard a lot of good things about the HD 280s, 380s, and HD25-1  But I have no chance to demo any of these, so I would like to be able to hear some people talk about there sound quality and of course how well they close off sound from the outside world.  The reason I don't want to be walking around with my 650s, is because I don't want everyone to hear how lound I am, well that and not to be mugged

You might look into the Audio Technica ATH-M50s.  It's been a long time since I've heard the 280s, but my impression of the M50s was one of superior comfort and sound quality.

I own the HD380s and out of the headphones I own and have heard, they sound great. Bass is very pronounced, but not muddy in any way, and they have solid sound isolation.

However, they look a bit weird, at least on my head, and are quite large. I use them primarily at home and personally wouldn't want to walk around with them on. But they work great for use on an airplane, train, or in a coffee shop, etc.

For portability the HD25-1 would be your best choice from Sennheiser.

HD25s are excellent cans no matter the criteria.

yes, but for that price there are better and definitely more comfortable cans if it's full size circumaural, on my opinion

nevertheless, very decent headphones, HD-25:)

also, it would depend on what your're looking for in terms of sound sig, HD25 1-ii's are very upfront, not polite at all. everything is very personal with an emphasis on bass

I can get a pair of hd 380 pros for 80 Euros. At that price and for listening to the music outside the house and through an ipod are they a good deal?
Thanks

Well I was leaning towards the HD 280s, but what about the AT m50?  If you compared them side by side, which would you recommend for good closed portable phones?

$100-110 for the M50's are good, but i wouldn't pay anymore
