I have No Jazz in my collection...
So a friend of mine dug these out of his Giant Rubbermaid tub of Jazz (literally) a while back and said "Just the perfect thing to get you started in Jazz".
There is a good cross section of early 50's - 70's jazz in each box and most of it is very well recorded with a great sound.
If your looking for an excellent collection of older jazz or good starter collection for someone, then you will not go wrong with these 2.
And each CD has a sleeve fashioned after the LP Sleeve... Just like mini LP's, bonus marks just for that alone.
I have not heard the Blues collection so I cannot give opinion on it.

What else should I do? Sitting on a leaf shutter while Ringo is playing bongos in the sealing and watching Dolly Parton trying to hit the top C on Mozart's "Queen of the Night" in order to build a second career? No. Forty-five years slipped away like a trailer filled with ice cream in the Mojave Desert. But as long as no one screams, "What are you doing here among these ingenious DJs? Clear off stage!," we'll go on playing our little digital sonatas. And we still have tons of ideas how to progress with this.
