I've been neglecting this release a bit because it's the first album AVTechNO! released, but I decided to listen to it again today while working on the album artwork for a couple of albums I ripped yesterday, and wow this release is more impressive than I remembered. I'm even more convinced now that AVTechNO! belongs in my personal list of top ten musicians.

I really enjoy the Q701 a lot with prog rock and prog metal. I know some, maybe most will say the Q701 is not well suited for metal, but I think they are good with any well recorded/mastered music. They are of course fairly neutral, analytical, and very detailed, so any music that is clipped or has crushed dynamics will not sound that good. The Q701 will not hide the flaws in a bad recording. On a good recording they sound great, and on a great recording they sound magical. I think rock and metal sound good on a neutral, and fast headphone. It's all personal preference though. Some people will prefer a warmer signature like the HD650 for rock and metal, but the Q701 is no doubt quicker and a bit more resolving.

If you are looking for this type of sound signature, the Q701 is a steal at their current price. I got mine for $240 shipped.

thanks a lot for the response. I'm looking at the DT880 right now, but it sounds like the Q701 is worth the shot :)

It's been a while (maybe a year) since I had listened to this record (I really like it actually). I just started listening to it with some M80's and holly crap did it brought a smile to my face, the bass(guitar) feels perfect and like saying I'm the boss here. really punchy and precise while been right about on level with the guitars (I feel the bass is lost in most recordings). i just noticed the bass notes in the beginning of "Blind" and in "Ball Tongue" the bass felt HUGE in the best of ways... loving the sound of this album on the M80s...
